Come round young children, I shall regale you of the tale of Castle Story, A castle building, brick brawling, rock rumbling game. An idea created with a smiling yellow face to defeat the evil rock monsters that threaten their ways of life. Castle story was a colony sim with a high level or creativity and customization capable to entertain the young minds of our time with endless hours of designing planning and rock skull bashing. Bricktrons as they were known to be called, Fought the Corruptrons, dangerous rock beings after the Bricktrons power crystal, their center of life and rebirth. Bricktrons were taught by a guiding hand known as a player to build walls and defenses against the incoming waves of onslaught. Simple creatures they may have been, but mighty they would grow. They formed castles, layers thick and forged armors of iron and bows of plant leaves. They mastered the art of magics and built wards to heal themselves and encourage a stronger defense. As time went on, they learned how to master demolition, built bombs and catapults, learned machinery with bear traps and gears. They eventually learned how to join other Bricktron tribes in cooperation against the Corruptrons or attack their own enemies who threatened their way of life. Eventually, the all powerful player would build worlds for the Bricktrons to explore and the Corruptrons to conquer, but rapidly the decline would arise. The ancient ones, known to have created the crystals the Bricktrons protect suddenly vanished, the crystals began to fade, the other tribes disappeared, and the Corruptrons could no longer be held off. Over the next years, Castle Story would sit untouched, a magnificent and promising game withering away, waiting for the next of Ancient ones to repower their crystals and fight the Corruptrons again. Will the Bricktrons have a new hope, will they be lost to the Corruptrons, sadly this tale has a grave ending. Only few Tribes still exist and no sign of the Ancient ones has been seen. Soon the Bricktrons will give up hope and all will be lost. Will a new hope arise or will all be lost, unfortunately tis grim ending will be the last for the few Bricktrons still out there waiting in trance for their new Ancient ones to arrive.

Castle Story is a good game at it's core. The concept it simple yet satisfying, the gameplay can be a bit wonky but works, and you can really express your creativity in the game even if the options are limited. And there is no denying that the soundtrack is amazing! What the game lacks, however, is a pulse. The game has been abandoned by a failed company, a non existing community and empty online servers. So there is simply no way of the game coming back from it's low player count, unless a miracle happens. That being said, the single player mode still works fine, with different maps and objectivs. However, it is in dire need of fixes and updates, which will never come. Overall, Castle Story is a game filled with charm and creativity, despite the fact that it has many issues. It has the foundation to be a great game, but sadly that will never become a reality.
