Being an actual tram driver in a highly-detailed European-inspired city, I have to say this game utterly fails to capture the soul-crushing indignity that is this job's single most defining quality. Everything is unrealistically satisfying and rewarding. Some of the most glaring inaccuracies in this game: - Passengers are polite and thoughtful and will always board/unboard in an orderly manner. Nobody ever holds your doors for the sh*ts and giggles. Nobody ever blames you for their ineptitude at figuring out how to push a f***ing button. - In fact, nobody ever delays, berates or threatens you for any reason whatsoever; highly inaccurate. - With few exceptions that are probably glitches, pedestrians are always attentive of their surroundings and rarely ever display glaringly suicidal behaviour. Nobody seems to wear earphones either. - Motorists are competent and aware of traffic laws. In paritcular, they seem to understand perfectly well what those lines on the ground are for and will never take left turns in front of a tram (moving or otherwise). Nobody ever cuts you off on purpose. No brake-checking, either. - Unlike real public transport companies, the game generously rewards you for doing your job properly, while never blaming your for other motorists' blunders (in fact, it never blames you for anything!). What it gets somewhat right: - Signal timing, traffic planning and general infrastructure design can be frustrating at times. This is a good strat, but should be significantly worse if this game were to be taken seriously as a simulator. - While standard scheduling is unrealistically relaxed, you can set tighter time allocation profiles. Those will (at least to some degree) approximate the real-life experience of being expected to keep ridiculous schedules that are mathematically impossible to satisfy in the first place while everybody and everything is actively trying to delay you. - Occasionally, pedestrians will utterly ignore an approaching tram and/or step on the tracks for no reason whatsoever. Again, accurate but not nearly bad enough. There are just two satisfying real-life features that this game inexplicably omits: - You can't seem to yell at passengers or motorists. Checked all the hotkeys, nothing there. Sure, there's always the bell, but it's about as effectual as it is in real life. With real tram operations, it's the yelling that counts. - Crash physics. Not sure how I feel about a tram game without proper soft-body crash physics. Seems to miss the entire point, really. Oh, and I guess the actual driving and operational aspect of it is simulated fairly well, in case that's what you're here for. If you'll excuse me now, I'm off evaluating my life choices.
This game has great potential. However, here are my issues with the game, and my advice to the developers to make it way more enjoyable and better: - First, traffic. I feel like density is missing. I want more cars, more traffic — make it more dynamic. It feels empty until arriving at a traffic light, where I feel like it's the only moment we see some traffic. But then, when we drive, it's just too little. - Secondly, I tried to change the values of the mechanic that brings the steering to the center (putting it at 0% or 100% — no difference). It's so frustrating. I don't know if the setting would prevent that, but it's really annoying to turn the steering to the left just a bit, and our steering goes directly back to the center, making us do small steering movements each time in a curve. It's so unrealistic. Maybe check how ETS2 handles that — it's way better. - Thirdly, make a map system or something. I know we can disable/adjust the arrow system on the road, but what if we want to disable it completely? We just get lost because we have no active map. Again, a GPS system on the dashboard like ETS2 would be so good. - Dynamic weather would be greatly appreciated. However, that being said, the art direction is amazing. The world, cars, and map are beautiful — I really like the graphics. The sound is also amazing, congrats! The gameplay is pretty cool, but would be better with what I’m suggesting. I have refunded the game, but I’m still interested in it, and waiting for some changes that would improve the quality of life, etc. Congrats to the devs. I still recommend this game, but expect some frustations. However, concerning the DLCs, overpriced, this is terrible, you won't gain any people with these expensive DLCs. 18 euros just for a bus... It's almost the price of the game (bus only)
I bought the complete tram+bus bundle. I was quite surprised; it reminded me a lot of OMSI 2, but with excellent graphics. I hope they continue to improve it and add DLC in the future, but above all, I hope they allow map and vehicle mods. I think it's a worthy successor, very beautiful, and Tramau is brilliant, with a map designed with great care and attention to detail. I'm looking forward to seeing other brands (even if they're fictional). It would be great to see an o405n2 or a Citaro. For now, the level of detail in the buses is supreme and far surpasses the competition. Yes, it's true that some details aren't perfect, but it's definitely a big step. By opening the simulator up to modding, sales are guaranteed.
