I'll admit it, the game is too hard for me. I've made it to the Necrodancer a few times but my rythmically challenged white ass can't deal with this anymore. Doesn't mean the game is bad but be warned: It's insanely hard. The achievements percentages reflect that a lot. 41% beat the first zone, 8% beat the 4th (final) zone. That should be enough to show you how rough this game is. That being said, if you're okay with having a difficult time, this game is amazing in every way possible.

i have long had an appreciation for roguelike games and the skills one has to develop in order to play them, but they never appealed to me personally simply because i didn't like the idea of dying over and over again and losing all of my items. then i figured i'd give this game a shot because i love rhythm games and silly supernatural themes, and it couldn't hurt to try it out, especially since it was on sale. oh my god. i am addicted. i can now fully understand that specific feeling of satisfaction experienced by my the binding of isaac obsessed boyfriend. every day i look forward to getting home and opening up my laptop and playing this game. i struggled so much in the beginning, convinced it would take me forever to 'get good,' and then slowly everything started clicking. each new zone is a completely different beast from the previous one and it is so fun going from wtaf is going on to learning the movement patterns of every new freaky little enemy and even testing out different play styles with the various playable characters. this game has so much charm and personality-- i never write long reviews like this but i really could not resist raving about it. ALSOOOO i love the singing shopkeeper he's awesome

Game so good Nintendo gave the devs the rights to make a Zelda spin-off based on it (Cadence of Hyrule). Definitely a must-buy for all fans of roguelites and rhytm games

The amount of joy and frustration I have gotten out of this game is extremely high, and I'm always coming back for one more run! For such a simplistic-looking game there's an incredible amount of complexity here, and I'm a huge fan of it. If you aren't huge on the rhythm side of things, there's a beatless mode that works very well (though I do think it helps to be familiar with the way beats work in game)
