Behind this seizure inducing 2D precision platformer from over a decade ago there is at least something to go back to. As you might tell from its title, the hook comes mainly from the music. If you're into techno and electronic music with upbeat tracks, you certainly find the urge to get through some of these platforms and obstacles while jumping and stomping on enemies. If not (which would be weird considering how the game explicitly markets itself) it helps that the challenge is not only doable but replayable from a time attack and deathless approach. Moreover, there's a mode with an endless run of a subset of short levels increasing in difficulty, a mini adventure with a couple new mechanics and the optional DLC with even more levels. However, the game isn't without its flaws as its stomping mechanic makes one fall way too fast to get used to and the requirement for coyote jumps by the end of the game can be a bit annoying. Plus, while I get that "Joy" is part of the title, having joyous moans every time you hit a checkpoint certainly isn't ideal, nor is the childish and half baked story or the fact that the in-game achievements so many years after release are still bugged. And that’s not even going into the “coming soon” leaderboards from micro hell (soon when?). All in all, this is one eyesore for some that can certainly be enjoyed more by how you can jam to it while playing it. Having said that, it's still not too late to have a QoL update.
