This one is more like a neutral review just barely tipped positive. The fact that this game is Early Access is very apparent, as it definitely feels incomplete. It could do with more enemies, more gear, more everything. Additionally handling the base operations gets tiresome, as you must walk around to each of your buildings to check on them pretty frequently. Check your crew missions at the scanning tower, check your incoming visitors at the landing pad, check your various production buildings to make sure their queues are not idling, walk around just outside your base to gather materials and fish... and you do this after every single combat mission. It REALLY needs a one-stop control building where you can manage your entire base without having to trek all around the darn thing every day. Perhaps they will add it, I can only hope. If this were the completed game the review would be negative, but I hold some hope that all the things needed to make this a great game are still coming. We shall see.

Imagine if you took Diablo and No Mans Sky and had a game baby. This would be that game baby. It's been a long time since I've had such a reaction to a game where I said "this is cool" and the game felt instantly fun right away. The way skills improve as you use them as well as skill points and XP remind me of playing a game version of a LitRPG novel. It's all fun - with some odd jittering sometimes, and I am hoping the variety of monsters and stuff increases, but I'm just at the beginning stages of the game so I'm sure this will grow in diversity. I could play this game for years if they continue to post new content.

Overall, I have been playing for 2 hours and I have to say that the experience is enjoyable. The base started to expand, I have build a few buildings and got my first employee. I am looking forward to see what else will happen in there and how my actions will impact the outcome of the base. Combat is cool! I got a few pretty fun skills and some OP weapons I am rushing through with. Pros/Cons: Pros: - Combat, Skills and Weapons are fun - Base is getting better the more I play - Story is generally interesting and engaging - Music and environments are beautiful (hopefully there will be more variaty in the future) - The game made me laugh a couple of times, some jokes are quite hilarious Cons: - A few small bugs (nothing major so far, but would be nice to fix) - 30 fps on my PC with a tiny bit of drops sometimes (average PC i would say) Conclusion: Recommended, game with potential, generally fun, with updates can become something really cool.

Cygnus is not what it looks like on the trailer, but something new. It's not like Riftbreaker but more like Diablo or The Ascent where you loot weapons and stuff for your player character but also gain resources to build and craft things in your base. The game is not open world, all missions are instances that each take like 5-10 minutes to complete, which is not necessarily bad as there's a lot of story going on in the main yellow missions. The setting feels unique so far, there's some story characters that join your base early and they have VOs and personality. The base is simple and relaxed. Was struggling a bit to understand that you have to go on a mission to pass time and craft items as the base does not progress in real time. You get daily action points to harvest resources and your buildings will craft stuff passively each day. You can assign NPCs to buildings to make them produce stuff faster and you have to feed employees with food or else they produce less, pretty straightforward stuff. So far the base management is not too deep but the combat is fun. Saw some small bugs like missions not appearing on the world map immediately and my settings not saving, but no crashes or broken quests or other big game breaking issues so far. Game runs and plays smooth. Overall pretty good quality and very fun for an early access game.

The first thing you'll notice is how absolutely smooth the menus are. Incredibly smooth and polished. The gameplay is amazing - varied, fast paced, highly customizable. Some of the monsters are so cute that you'll feel bad about shooting them. The base-building element is highly addictive, with an interesting mechanic that benefits a logical organization of buildings. Overall, an exceptional experience. Vividly recommend it to anyone who enjoys top down gameplay, base builders, and shooting colourful aliens.
