For a dollar, Death Rally was well worth the price of admission. It's a simple and short racing game that goes by in about 6-7 hours if you're taking it slow. It's very arcade-y and easy to pick up and put down without a heavy learning curve. The online for it isn't active too much anymore, but bot support and solo play exist to keep the game playable. My only complaints are mainly that it lacks a lot of depth after a few hours with only a few tracks and mechanics that can quickly burn you out if you continue to play after you've done everything.

DEATH NIGHT SPRINGS It was pretty surprising to see a racing game from Remedy, especially back when Alan Wake came out. That said, they pulled off a pretty fun and addictive arcade racer. The story, while a bit weak, has you taking part in battles on circuit tracks, and you can win in two ways: either take all your opponents out of the game by destroying their cars with various weapons, or simply cross the finish line first. What really grabs you in the game is its addictive, high-energy gameplay in the beginning. Money builds up at a decent pace, giving a good sense of progress. Each car feels unique, and the different weapons and power-ups actually matter—they aren’t just there for show and really impact the race outcome. Now for the downsides. The story here is honestly awful. Sure, you can guess when an important mission is coming by looking at the turquoise progress percentage, but in reality, the plot is worse than just a box-ticking exercise. Everything’s presented in sloppy comic-style cutscenes, and it’s completely unclear who we’re even fighting or why. And those annoying phone calls? They make it really confusing at first—where does the money you earn go, and what’s going to happen in the race this time? On top of that, the game gets pretty repetitive. There are less than ten tracks, and modes like "one-on-one," endless nitro, or money-collection rounds are pretty rare. Switching to more powerful cars doesn’t make battles any easier; on high difficulty or “extreme,” taking down everyone is almost impossible. Other than the deathmatch, the single-player mode doesn’t really offer much. The controls, while generally fine, have their quirks. Cars lose a lot of speed and agility in corners, making them pretty clumsy to handle, especially on industrial zone maps with sharp, tight turns. Plus, there are times when all the bots slam together and shoot at your side. Also, both your and the enemies' secondary gun fire constantly, taking off the last bits of your health at the worst possible moments. Finally, beside a dead multiplayer scene and tons of cheaters even in single-player leaderboards, the game feels pretty sloppy overall: no official Russian localization, no Steam Cloud, and no collectible cards. By comparison, the first Alan Wake had all of that right from launch. The game’s okay, but it could’ve been much better if it weren’t for some iffy design and progression choices. Still, if you haven’t played the original 1996 version, Death Rally (2012) is a pretty good way to get into it and can give you a few hours of fun racing! P. S. 2x. A good game that is old school. The first game was made in the 90s and it looked like GTA but it was so much fun. Racing, shooting, intense. The remake for 2010s is good as well. I recommend it especially if you played the original in the 90s.
