Welcome to Truck Racer An arcade truck racing game with top-tier janky gameplay. It’s not a simulator game . The drifting? These trucks have better drifting than 99% of cars from Need for Speed. Choose between 6 available trucks and 13 playable championships. Minus/complaints: [*] The sky, in some maps, it is literally beaming/glowing/radiating (whatever you want to call it) into my screen in a very buggy, flashing way. [*] The physics when trucks crash into walls doesn’t respond very well. You get stuck like glue, while it keeps accelerating like the NASCAR wall-ride meme. [*] Dust and smoke are annoyingly broken. The particle effects block the whole screen. [*] Dirt-related maps are not fun in many ways. One reason is that you have a truck designed for dirt racing, yet somehow there’s a patch of darker dirt that can slow down maxed-out dirt tires. Make it make sense. Score: [*] Racing: 5/10 — Not really a race if the bots just drive into walls and can be easily overlapped. [*] Price: 5/10 — Not worth buying at full price. Instead, grab the game only when it’s on sale. [*] Gameplay: 100% completion in maybe 15 hours or less, with 50 total achievements. Good luck with the multiplayer achievements, though. I have 24 hours played because I fell asleep while the game was still running. [*] Replayability: 7/10 — Try playing the time trial mode; the game is much better without bots. You can also try split-screen for extra jankiness. [*] Overall: 5/10 — Decent, janky gameplay with many visual errors. I need a neutral rating option, but I lean more toward recommending it if you buy the game on sale.

for the price this is very much recommended! The game plays surprisingly good and even for the age, this is a pretty good time to waste a few hours! Right now it is on sale for 0,99 Euro and you should just buy this game now! RECOMMENDED!!!

Wow, for such a simple and grounded racing game, this is really fun to play! I was expecting to get bored at the "just driving" gameplay, but I didn't. All you do is drive, use your handbrake to drift and use your boost (you can also use the horn but it is useless). But the trucks are very fun to drive. It took me a few races to get used to the controls, but once you do, you will realise how nice they are. Seriously, I was annoyed at how the trucks drove at first. But, a few races later, I was having a blast with the driving controls. You can also upgrade your handling and other stuff on your truck, so that helps a lot too. Some upgrades will affect some stats negatively, so you also have to decide which ones you prefer buying. The visual graphics are alright, nothing too special. Some of the lighting effects (such as the lens flares) look amazing, but they get a bit in the way of the gameplay, so they can be annoying. But the tracks are still cool looking, and their settings are interesting too, for truck racing.

Truck Racer is a competent arcade racer for $1.45AUD (on sale) although it has issues. Truck Racer has a decent amount of tracks and gamemodes although the more complex track layouts become available during the championship mode around 2 hours in. The AI are chaotic and at times barely functional by running into walls, gaining insane speed around corners or failing to match the speeds of the player; the AI also near constantly emit large plumes of smoke when taking corners that obstruct the players view if nearby. Truck racer has a small selection of trucks that ultimately don't matter when you upgrade them. The game has both road and dirt circuits with upgrades dedicated to each of them, certain trucks will have an affiliation to one of these track types but you can choose to ignore that if you prefer a certain cab and purchase their upgrades accordingly. The games economy allows you to purchase and upgrade these trucks swiftly at the cost of races becoming a breeze due to the poor AI, therefor if you wish to maintain a level of challenge you will need to hinder yourself by avoiding upgrades until needed. The most surprising aspect of TR is the vehicle destruction that flings anything that isn't the cab off the truck onto the circuit during impacts; this is amplified by the chaotic AI's debris remaining on track during races, reminiscent of mid 2000's racing titles. note: The default keybinds are pretty awful but you can rebind them in the game settings. It uses Q to accelerate & W to reverse/brake, very "unique" default decision. Conclusion Despite the issues I've listed above I do believe Truck Racer is worth playing if you want a simple alternate arcade racer that you can get a few hours out of. It's $1.45AUD on sale and I think what it offers is worth that price but it is nowhere near worth the full price of purchase.
