Game about life problems growing up and kidnapping . Thanks to Akira Yamaoka for helping me to find this game. Essentially, the whole gameplay in this title is just walking and one-button mashing. But the story and the atmosphere are what this is all about. Set in Paris, this story is about a cabaret dancer and the terrible tragedy that befell her. And in this situation, through emotional instability, she tries to find herself and her inner strength to escape inevitable doom. I don't really think that Yamaoka's vibe ( because I don't really remember his music in other titles except Silent Hill , where he was credited ) is really shown here, but overall the OST is good, even memorable at times ( Tout dépend de toi is practically the main theme of the title ). If the story won't interest you that much or even at all, this game is not for you, because gameplay-wise, other than mini-games, it is nonexistent. Would recommend if you enjoy narrative games with little gameplay other than walking.

A wonderfully horrifying tale about the horrors that can befall women. And it shows us the main character's psyche in such a beautifully grotesque way, with the pixel art befitting it quite well with some of the most gorgeous surreal environments. The story goes really well, with many lines that made my stomach turn. Also the music is just so good, fitting the time period to a T. The gameplay isn't really there, but it has more than some other games of its kind. It was nice how they used some of the minigames to emphasize the protagonist's breakdowns, truly making you feel for them. And there's even a few decent moments like fighting or puzzles getting around enemies. There is definitely enough variety to keep things interesting, if a little slow at some points. But the story is where it is best. I'm sure I'd get more on a second playthrough, and I might attempt that, but I'd much rather remain with it in my mind for a bit. Thinking on the themes, symbolism, and character actions will make the next week an interesting brainstorm. Safe to say, I highly recommend the game. Especially on sale. It ran me about 6 hours for the experience, and I can't say, even at full price, it wouldn't be worth it. Please check it out.

I'm genuinely shocked that I don't think I've ever heard anybody talk about this game. I cannot stress enough how much you /need/ to pay attention to the content warnings but it's beautifully executed in it's art and narrative, surreal, sincere, as scary as it is charming. It's got shades of Perfect Blue and Paprika, a sprinkle of The Cell, and if you've ever wanted "Girlhood Horror" (SH3, Haunting Ground, Rule of Rose) centered on an adult woman, this is your game.

This is one of those games that I'd expect to see covered by all mainstream horror content creators, its subject matter is beautifully handled, even when it delves into very hard topics that are often mishandled by horror media, like sexual abuse, objectification of women, generational trauma, etc. I'm a big horror fan and I enjoy all its branches, but I specifically like it when artists are able to both spook and hook the audience through a mix of ambiance and story telling, and this game has both in spades. The soundtrack from different artists, one of which is Akira Yamaoka of Silent Hill fame, set up the atmosphere amazingly, as well as its expressive pixel art. You can feel its roots in games like Yume Nikki and Silent Hill of course, but also from David Lynch, Argento and a bunch of others. The story of Gloria is one that grasped me from the opening minutes and I can't stop thinking about it. I admittedly feel bad for buying Decarnation on a deep discount, this game deserves its retail price and more. I hope it reaches more people because we need more experiences like this in gaming.

Great little horror game. It’s thoughtful, disturbing, and has incredible art direction. The score and sound design were also fantastic. My only critique - and this is just because of how I played it - is that some of the minigames/boss battles are not great on Steam Deck. There seems to be a bit of latency between pressing a button and the game responding, which makes some of the rhythmic parts of the game challenging.
