This was cutting edge, back in the day. Still holds up. A lot of fun, even if graphically shows its age. It's almost thirty years old now. Well thought out missions encourage a patient style of play. And it's nice to be able to choose your weapons for each mission, which was a lot less common back in '98. Nice to be able to buy a copy to support the devs and/or the publisher after all the time I spent playing it on a naughty ripped copy.
I played Delta Force as a kid, and back then I remember it being incredibly difficult and unforgiving. Though coming back to it after like 30 years of playing FPS games, I'm not really surprised to find that it’s not nearly as hard as I remembered. The gameplay is definitely dated, but there’s still something really satisfying about the open maps, long-range combat, and old-school atmosphere. It’s a great trip down memory lane and a reminder of how much FPS games have evolved over the years. Novalogic 10/10 - Tencent 0/10 Removing Black Hawk Down from everywhere just so you can sell your freaking trash free to play moneymaker reboot? That company is one of the worst. Such a shame people actually play that trash. Milking the boys with nostalgia and dont let them play the better version? Big L Tencent!
Your "Liminal Backrooms" is at best my subliminal backlogs. This game quite literally shaped me into the person I am today. Not joking, literally every autistic aspect of mine can be traced back to this and Disney's Dinosaur. A distant uncle of mine introduced me to Delta Force at a very unprepared age of four or five. Unironically, his name was Joy, and boy, did he make sure that the rest of my life was spent in the utmost joy of being able to appreciate nuance over overtness. As a child back then, I couldn't possibly have comprehended that behind the facade of open-terrain warfare, I was actually being introduced to the powerful concept of the limen by the Voxel Space engine. Fast forward a decade, then another decade: my all-time favorite movie is Predator (1987), my favorite genre in media is isolation horror, and I'd prefer impressionism over realism in a heartbeat; honestly, the lower the vertex count in games, the hornier I am. The list goes on. I guess what I'm trying to say is that to some degree, we all have an Anton Ego inside us, and I owe mine to this humble artifact of time.
