On Arch Linux with KDE Wayland, I ran into two issues with Devices Tycoon. The first launch showed this message: “This app requires the Microsoft Edge WebView2 runtime.” To get past it: 1. Download the WebView2 Runtime from Microsoft’s website. Choose the Evergreen Standalone Installer, x64. 2. Open the installer with Protontricks Launcher and select Devices Tycoon (AppID: 2085660). This installs WebView2 into the game’s Proton prefix. 3. My working setup also has a Windows 7 override specifically for msedgewebview2.exe, configured under the Applications tab in the game’s winecfg. After installing WebView2, the game opened, but the mouse cursor was completely invisible under Proton Experimental. Clicking still worked. I was using KDE’s Super+Ctrl pointer locator just to play. What finally fixed the cursor was installing GE-Proton 11-11, using the x86_64 build. Restart Steam, then go to: Game Properties → Compatibility → Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool → GE-Proton11-11-x86_64 After restarting the game, the cursor displayed normally. Enabling “Automatically capture the mouse in full-screen windows” did not help on my system. The other game configuration changes we tested were reverted. My working setup uses WebView2 with the application-specific override above, plus GE-Proton 11-11.

Worthy sequel of other roastery games. However, there are some caveats. 1. No actual competition: You do not see the competitions products, I have yet to see a processor or other sub-product sold or contracted to another company. 2. No custom architectures (sometimes). I can make my own discreet GPU and GPU architecture, but I cannot import it into a mobile processor, I am forced to use existing architectures from other companies. Customizing processors also doesn't make much sense when it's another companies product, it's not like you take a massive loss or anything for contracting a custom product. If these 2 things are added/improved upon, that would be awesome!

When examining the games developed by Roastery Games, you can see a pretty clear trend. Their games progressively get better and better. I've played Smartphone Tycoon, Laptop Tycoon, and now Devices Tycoon, alongside their mobile releases. In fact, I played the mobile version of Devices Tycoon extensively before the Steam version released. With that being said, I do recommend this game, but to a very specific audience. If you enjoy building a technology company, designing your own devices, and watching your business grow into a multibillion-dollar corporation, you'll probably enjoy it. However, if you're looking for an in-depth business simulator, you're going to be disappointed. The biggest issue with Devices Tycoon is its lack of depth. Don't get me wrong, this game has considerably more depth than Roastery Games' previous titles. However, it continues to suffer from the same issues that have plagued their games for years. There's a general lack of polish, questionable design decisions, and mechanics that feel unnecessarily simplistic. Take the stock market, for example. You can build a company worth billions of dollars, yet the financial management is remarkably shallow. You can't dilute shares, meaningfully interact with investors, or really influence the stock market. For a game about building a massive technology company, you'd think these would be pretty important features. Then there's device pricing. Why are we still forced to select predetermined price points? Roastery Games has been making these games for years, and somehow we still can't manually enter the price we want to charge for a device. It's such a simple feature, and yet it's completely absent. Manufacturing costs also feel ridiculously low, while pricing devices above $1,000 can be unnecessarily difficult. Device customization is a mixed bag. Some products have genuinely impressive customization options, while others feel considerably more limited. The technology progression is also questionable. In one playthrough, I unlocked practically bezel-less displays around 2013, yet somehow remained stuck with 1 GHz processors until 2016. How does that make any sense? Company management is another area that desperately needs improvement. Employees have different traits, but what's the point when you can essentially hire whoever you want and upgrade them anyway? The system feels like it exists to give the illusion of depth rather than provide meaningful management. And don't even get me started on employee happiness. It's genuinely one of the most tedious mechanics in the game. Not tedious because it's complex or requires strategic thinking, but because it's just annoying. There's a difference between making management challenging and making it unnecessarily frustrating. And then there's the review system. Good God, the review system. This has been an issue in practically every Roastery Games title I've played, and somehow it continues to be one of the worst aspects of their games. You can design an incredible device and still receive terrible reviews because of some questionable pricing calculation. Apparently, charging $100 more than what a device costs to manufacture is enough to justify a 5/10 review. Seriously? By that logic, Apple would be getting absolutely demolished by reviewers every single year. A premium device shouldn't automatically receive terrible reviews simply because it has a substantial profit margin. Reviews should consider performance, features, competition, and the target market. It's frustrating that this continues to be an issue after so many years. Now, despite all that criticism, there are genuinely good things about this game. Graphically, Devices Tycoon is easily one of Roastery Games' best-looking titles. The assets are well-made, the menus look modern, and the overall presentation is a considerable improvement over their previous games. I also genuinely enjoy the framework of building a company, developing products, and gradually expanding into a technological empire. And that's ultimately what makes this game frustrating. The foundation is good, but the execution just isn't where it should be. More advanced financial management, meaningful employee traits, better technology progression, improved customization, and realistic product reviews could make this a considerably better game. Unfortunately, Roastery Games doesn't exactly have the greatest track record when it comes to updating their games. I genuinely hope they take Devices Tycoon seriously and continue improving it rather than moving on to another Tycoon title and repeating the same mistakes. Overall, I'd give Devices Tycoon a 6/10. It's not a bad game. It's an okay game, and for the right audience, it can be pretty enjoyable. However, it's also a relatively simplistic game with a good concept, decent customization, and a surprisingly nice presentation, held back by shallow mechanics and frustrating inconsistencies. I recommend it, but only with those limitations in mind. There's a genuinely good game hiding underneath all these issues, and I hope Roastery Games eventually manages to bring it out.

such a good game about technology :D I put a section here about things that should be added to the game and bugs - luckily this dev listens and its so peak. It was about how sandbox mode should've been better than just give you a million research points, bugs, how it was slow and that sort of thing. Now the UI does need getting used to and the game itself. The tutorial isn't that good but if you are smart enough figuring out the game yourself is actually kinda easy. This game is about managing things (maybe micro-managing) so just remember that. That aside - WHOA it literally is CONTENT GALORE there is so much to do, unlock and through different time periods honestly idk what to say - if you like it you like it. I didn't have trouble with the game when it first came out. I really don't know what to say now. I will add onto this review but for now this review has been through enough changes i recommend getting it if your into this sort of thing. THIS IS NOT AN AI SLOP GAME!!! THE DEVELOPER ONLY USES AI FOR THE COMPANY LOGOS. THIS WAS CODED AND MADE ALL BY ONE PERSON ITS HUMAN WORK. Also it is fine to not like this game. I am not saying you can't have an opinion but do not post an negative review just because its not the type of game you were expecting, and just because the game's name is "devices tycoon" does not mean its dead easy. People find it hard and some people may just find it piss easy, I just have to say that before you buy. REMEMBER THIS IS MADE BY ONE PERSON This developer is the literal best as he listens to feedback and updates the game accordingly :D would recommend but PLEASE don't impulse buy it then dislike it and make a bad review because its not your "cup of tea"

I've first played it on mobile and immediately fell in love with it, and when I saw a PC version that not only had more devices I could make but also improvements to gameplay I was very exited. I love this game, but I fell like some things could be improved like having more control in the OS creator like chossing where things go, how they look and how they work instead of pre-determined options would really help; Also producing and presenting multiple products at the same time like how it is in real life would realy help the flow of the game.
