May 2025
I was on the fence about this game both for purchasing and during the first little bit. Some of the negative reviews were having a heavy impact on my decision. I've decided I like this game overall and I want to address some of the major issues people keep stating. 1. Unskippable dialogue/length of campaign: I do wish the dialogue was skippable because there is a lot of RNG that can impact some episodes and on the 2nd or 3rd attempt the dialogue is grating to click through. That said, clearly the devs put a lot of effort into the campaign and that was the main intention for the game. It really feels like people are complaining because they want a pure rogue-like experience from a game that was initially intended to be a campaign experience with rogue-like mode added on. The story is fun and gives strong Saturday Morning cartoons energy which I personal find nostalgic. I find it more enjoyable to alternate between campaign and rogue-like mode to mix-up the pacing and reduce the grindy feeling. 2. The unlocks do not come easy/fast enough: Honestly, I feel like complaining that you can't unlock everything in 4-8 hours is a little whine-y. I appreciate there being a lot to unlock in a rogue-like game. It's rewarding for new material to be rolled out hours into the game. I feel like many players just are not satisfied if they aren't achieving something every time they sit down for an hour. Which is fine if that's your jam, you just won't get that with this game. In contrast, I find it refreshing. I play a lot of rouge-likes and I find that when I can unlock everything in 7 hours and beat the game 4 times over it does not keep me playing or enjoying the game other than a quick, couple day romp (still good, but not sustainably enjoyed). Dimensionals will keep me coming back because there are things to unlock at hour 10 and hour 20, etc. I don't think having some characters being locked behind a high difficulty is a bad thing, as it will make the unlock more rewarding. It also does give you lots of content on the way, just not immediately. 3. The RNG: There are some runs that don't feel as good, but as you level characters they do get much stronger and it essentially lowers the difficulty. There are some elites that will absolutely demolish you if you do not have the right build, but there were some elites that would destroy you in Slay the Spire if you weren't equipped for it, while you could still beat the final boss with the same build. You need to know the elites, your build, and make the right choice and avoid them sometimes. It also allows you to just abandon the fight and lose the reward, so there is still a whoopsie panic option if you mess up (I'm not sure everyone realises this is a feature. Overall I do not think this game deserves the amount of flak it is getting. There are some valid complaints for sure I look forward to seeing what changes will be made in the future. I hope this review helps people make a decision, especially those who are heavily influenced by the long negative reviews like I was. Also the soundtrack is 🔥🔥🔥 and is stuck in my head most days.

The game reminds me why I like space fantasy + superheroes. Will be playing intbetween downtime with Star Trek Online until Exodus hits. Just a good level of humor and light hearted I need.

Love the game and not only that, the team behind it has been amazing with the community, quickly fixing any issue: •After I and a few other players faced a bug, they were quick to respond and in less than a day they sent us a Key to a beta version with the bug fixed, as they prepare the new hotfix. Special big thanks to Rodrigo on that. Regarding my opinion on the game: •The game is great, I love roguelikes, and this one has the vibes of old cartoons I used to watch, and mix it quite nicely. •visual and music are nice •the gameplay is nice, I like the fact there are ‘premade’ teams that you can mix and match •Comparing it to other roguelikes, I’ll say there are still a couple of things where this game could improve: 1)for someone who has played lots of roguelikes, the game isn’t particularly difficult. I don’t think it’s an issue at base level, but maybe some higher difficulty modes would be appreciated (if I’m not wrong though, they are already working on it) 2)The element of having to unlock characters through story mode may not be for everyone, I feel like it should be optional probably. Personally I like playing the story, it offers lots of funny dialogues, but I understand it’s not everyone’s jam. A skip button on the dialogue could also work. Regardless of these 2 minor issues (which I have no doubt will be fixed) the game is amazing, I love it and I know it has still a lot of potential even

*Update: I'm changing my rating to a thumbs up because the game deserves it, but I'm leaving my original gripe below: Fun gameplay and character design, but I cannot stand clicking through hours of dialogue I don't really care about, in a game mode I don't want to play, just to unlock the characters I want to play in the rouge-like mode. After playing for 4 hours on release, I have not yet played a single minute of the actual game I want to play, and I still have multiple hours left before I unlock the new characters. Please, make the characters unlockable from completing challenges in the rouge-like mode instead of forcing me to click through 6+ hours of dialogue and story. I just want to play the game!

Excellent strategic game-play with interesting party-building and a ton of replayability. Also, I love the nostalgia in the old-school comic-book vibe. Definitely worth checking out!
