I really like this game but it needed quicksaves. The only possible explanation for their absence I can think of is that this is clearly trying to hearken back to the PS1 era survival horror games like Dino Crisis which obviously wouldn't have had quicksaves, just a manual save option at select points. You can save anywhere which is nice, but with how quickly you die in this game and how often enemies ambush you out of nowhere (not to mention how confusing the puzzles can be and how quickly environmental hazards you didn't even realize were hazards can just instakill you) I think the game REALLY needed a quicksave option. Opening the menu and manually overwriting my save every two seconds is really irritating. And like yeah you can argue it's probably a skill issue, I admittedly am really bad at these throwback style FPS games, but I really don't see how quicksaves would HURT the experience.

It's an enjoyable FPS Dino shooter that pulls from Dino crisis in terms of puzzles and colored access cards. Currently the game has 8 levels with a endless mode and recently added expedition mode. I've enjoyed the repeatability with the combo scores that allow you to purchase new abilities and equipment, they've also added crisis mode which increases difficulty and adds challenges to complete. This is old school gaming which means if you die, you restart at the beginning of the level which works for me since i grew up with it but they aren't terribly long either. I've spent 15 hours plus more at this point on a two person development project and that's saying something considering i'm not even willing to demo most AAA games at this point. I'm excited to see how the new episodes will challenge me.

Very enjoyable old school fps with dinos. Weapons are fun to use, levels are pretty decent, with most of the time knowing where to go next. Would recommend and looking forward to the new chapters.

original review as of completing level 2: First of all i LOVE this game, however, i was kind of fooled by the description/game-play trailer of this game. It is not a boomer shooter like they advertise with the fast paced trailer and metal music. the only thing retro/90s about it is its graphics(which i fucking love). this is an fps dungeon crawler where you have to find key-cards to progress through each level. id honestly put this in the horror category as well, especially with some of the videos on the monitors and the lore throughout the levels. the atmosphere to this game is also extremely well done and creepy adding to the horror effect. the level design is quite good, but there are some bugs. firstly, let me say i've only reached level 3. in the first level, none of the instructions, like what to shoot, where i could crouch under, etc to progress the level, were shown, so it took me a while to get through the fan in the first level, as well as shooting the power box, so i ended up googling it. the other bug is in level 2 in this like boiler room area, the player can climb a ladder to the left and get on top of one of the big pressure vessels and get stuck behind it. fortunately, there is a small gap that i got out with, but it took me a few minutes to find it and actually use it. ik this is early early access so i understand that there will be these simple issues. but god damn, for the price this game is fucking awesome. review after attempting level 3: ok, what the fuck? i was really digging this game, great visuals, great level design, and great gameplay... where the hell did the last two go??? firstly, fuck the pterandodons, i usually dont even know that theyre there until they are attacking me, the first area of the third level opens with 4 dinos coming from all angles once you grab the shotgun. following that, you go into the first section, kill a dino and solve a puzzle... that makes you wait 10 seconds before being able to attempt it again, its just annoying and bad, remove the 10 second delay. after that room, you go on to a elevated walkway, which is gorgeous with the art style. you eventually get to a room with two plant creatures and the gas. this is basically a timed area as you need to realize theres a door in there, figure out that its a power-locked door, find the power box, then shoot it. oh and by the way theres lore thats in there that you have to read super fast because reading lore doesnt pause the game. after this, you go down a narrow hallway, still in gas, fight two more plant creatures and then find a door . by this time i was dead and too pissed off by the poor level design of this section that i quit. i dont think i can play until the level design of this section is fixed, it agrivated me too much. i still want to recommend this game because its in early access and deserves the funding. its really still very cool.
