Dude one of the first major bosses is a T-Rex that uses an Ankylosaurus as a weapon.... This game is peak. I haven't been so excited for a game release since the remake of Dead Space. I've been following this game for years and I'm not in the least bit disappointed. It may not be "AAA Quality", has some bugs and choppiness here and there, but man this is a labor of love worth supporting. Not enough good dinosaur games out there. Thank you for bringing this to life. After no-lifeing the game for a bit, I figure I should leave more of a genuine review. This game is really cool. It's basically a dinosaur boss rush. The designs, the music, the ideas behind this game are all very unique and it legitimately was a very fun time. Now I will warn, this game is JANK. Capital letters jank. This isn't to be discouraging or discrediting, this was made by a very small team and seemed to be their first time making a game. It has some weird hit boxes, very severe frame rate drops at important times, empty levels, and some frustrating design choices. This is not a game you play for a Dark Souls like experience; this is a game you play because you think dinosaurs are cool and you love the premise behind the game. The aesthetics carry. I was excited for each and every boss. Some fights and designs are better than others (Speed, you're awesome but you destroy my PC). But overall each boss was a joy to combat against, and hit that child-like wonder of "Wow a triceratops with a giant whip, badass". That's why you buy this game. It's far from perfect, but it's imaginative in just the way I wanted it to be. With some experience under their belt, I hope Team Spino continues to use their imagination to push out more games. A glossary would be a sick addition, with some lore behind the bosses. I'd pay extra just for that.
Can't Wait for Dinogun The Good [*]Dinosaurs (Really Cool) + Blades (Really Cool) = Dinoblade (Hell Yeah) [*]Obviously animations are the main selling point, and imo they do in fact hit. Attacks from the player and bosses are a combination of dinosaurs attacking with tails and stomps, but mostly different ways of swinging the sword, and let me tell ya, watching different dinosaurs swinging swords and other weapons in different ways does NOT get old. Finishing kill animations are also epic, though not every boss has a really cool one [*]The models from the dinosaurs themselves are just really cool, and with the variety of dinos and the weapons they use, really gets you excited for what the next boss will be [*]Boss movesets vary from fast and blinding, to behemoths coming in like a truck, and they all feel extremely impactful and actually got me moving in real life [*]I was scared at first seeing the upgrading, worried that it may make the game too easy, but honestly the difficulty is pretty solid so far [*]You can both play parry or dodge playstyle, however I think getting used to the parry is extremely satisfying to get right [*]The special moves and summons are simple, but absolutely EPIC [*]The Dark Form is actually a pretty well made ability, extremely powerful, but leaves you with no stamina [*]The different weapons providing small changes and buffs are cool, but not so significant, they visually look sick though [*]Specific combinations of abilities being able to take out 80% of a boss' hp is pretty fcking sick lmao (Discovered during boss rush, didn't break my main playthrough) The Bad [*]This game is very obviously NOT a triple A or even double A title, whatever is not the main focal point of the game, can seem clunky or straight up ugly, however I think the resources did go to the more important parts of the game [*]Environment can be bland and for the most part look like lower quality textures, especially the terrain. Though far away/background visuals on the horizon don't look half bad [*]UI is the most UI looking UI to ever UI [*]Space between bosses seem kinda bland, you're just running, picking up resources and defeating normal enemies, which are honestly quite insignificant to fight, you don't really need to put much effort into them, and mostly feel like padding [*]There are also some pretty important items scattered around the map, though there are no exploration mechanics, just running around, which is pretty boring, and more padding [*]The titular "flashing red attack that can't be blocked" is present in this game, however some of them can be parried, which can cause for some confusion, needing trial and error to figure out what can or cannot be parried [*]The Therizino boss fight can get a lil clunky due to how the boss attacks + the camera [*]Stamina upgrades increase max stamina, but don't increase stamina regen rate (I don't think it does?), causing for long waiting times for stamina to regen back [*]Spoilers ahead, but imo the dumbest decision the devs have made for the game. WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU MAKE THE DEMON BOSS 2ND PHASE A HUMANOID, IT DEFEATS LIKE HALF THE PURPOSE OF THE GAME. Not only that, the lore ends up being just some guys trapped in dinos, which is SO FCKING LAME, just make the funny absurd dino with weapons game have some over the top dumb, dopamine hit lore, it's just baffling to me. Honestly it's a damn shame cause the first phase of the boss is my favorite in the game [*]The 2nd phases of the final 2 bosses are both pretty bad imo, some of the attacks feel like they were made just for the sake of being difficult, just need to spam dodge or block and hope you don't get stunlocked The Random [*] Tank 's passive is so OP that i just chose to not use it for most of the game lol [*]I honestly don't know what to think about the upgrading resource of this game, it's really easy to get, picking it up in the world + defeating normal enemies, but the increases in strength and the other attributes don't seem too strong as to make the boss fights trivial either [*]Idk what to feel about the demon dino speaking in English, feels like noises and subs would've been just fine [*]Boss rush mode is meh [*]This game does NOT need fall damage lol Overall Thoughts Personally I'm had a blast with the game. The game is honestly just a dopamine rush, and a fun time watching dinosaurs just duke it out, with solid combat to master. I do recommend this game, it will give you an EPIC time and pure serotonin, however, don't go in expecting Elden Ring or E33 levels of polish
In 2020, when a random TikTok clip of a dinosaur with a great sword graced itself across my page i instantly followed, and have been watching this release get closer and closer. The gameplay, music, and areas all make for an extremely fun game. There are a few little issues here and there, but nothing that would stop you from living your best life as a judgment cutting dinosaur.
I'm gonna make this as simple as possible... Is this game janky? Yes. Is this game kinda stupid (in a good way)? Also yes. Is the combat Soulslike to an extent? Yes, so expect some kind of challenge (especially with the jank) Is it close to AA or AAA quality? FAR FROM IT!! Is it fun to be a dinosaur wielding a massive sword while a banging soundtrack plays? OH HELL YEAH!!! This game was clearly made with a lot of passion and it truly shows right from the start. I don't even have a full hour of gameplay under my belt and I haven't stopped smiling since the first fight. Support the dev of this game and just enjoy it for what it is because it is a very fun, goofy and HELL YEAH type of game. It's not perfect by any means; but the love / passion shows and not a lot of games feel that way in 2026 and it is worth the price!!
