Relaxing sliding‑puzzle with dinosaur artwork, simple mechanics and modest replay value.

Dinosaur Hunt Puzzle, developed by Racing Bros and published by ANPA.US, is a minimalist sliding puzzle game that takes inspiration from the artwork of the original Dinosaur Hunt title. It’s a straightforward concept executed with simplicity, aimed primarily at players who enjoy quiet, casual challenges rather than complex problem-solving. The game offers a familiar premise—rearranging scrambled tiles to form a complete image—but ties it to a dinosaur-themed visual identity that gives it a distinct flavor. There’s no overarching story or deep progression system here, just a collection of puzzles designed to be solved at your own pace. It’s an experience that values accessibility and relaxation over intensity, appealing to anyone looking for a small, meditative diversion rather than a lengthy or demanding game. At its core, Dinosaur Hunt Puzzle operates on one of the oldest and most enduring puzzle mechanics in gaming: the sliding-tile format. Each puzzle begins as a disassembled image based on artwork from the original Dinosaur Hunt series, and the goal is to shift tiles around until the picture is restored. This mechanic has been a staple of digital and physical puzzle design for decades because of its simple yet satisfying rhythm. In this case, the execution is clean and functional. The controls are straightforward, the interface uncluttered, and the presentation is easy on the eyes. While the game doesn’t introduce any new twists to the formula, it succeeds in providing a frictionless experience that allows players to focus entirely on the satisfying logic of sliding pieces into place. It’s an ideal format for short bursts of play, where you can complete a puzzle in a few minutes and move on feeling a small sense of accomplishment. The dinosaur theme gives the game a unique visual identity, even if it’s mostly cosmetic. Each puzzle features illustrations of prehistoric creatures in various dynamic poses, offering a sense of variety despite the repetitive gameplay. The artwork is colorful and stylized, giving the puzzles a pleasant aesthetic that makes the act of solving them more enjoyable. There’s something appealingly nostalgic about the presentation—it recalls an era of simple desktop games that didn’t rely on cinematic ambition or complex mechanics, instead focusing on the quiet satisfaction of completing a mental challenge. The overall visual and sound design is understated but appropriate; it avoids unnecessary clutter, which helps keep the player’s focus on the task at hand. The game’s calming tone makes it accessible for all ages, from children fascinated by dinosaurs to adults looking for something undemanding to unwind with. One of the more interesting aspects of Dinosaur Hunt Puzzle is its inclusion of Steam Workshop support, allowing players to create and share custom puzzles. This feature adds a welcome layer of replayability to what would otherwise be a short-lived experience. The ability to craft new puzzles from personal images or community creations broadens the game’s lifespan considerably, as players can continually download fresh content from others or design their own. For completionists, there are also Steam achievements and trading cards to collect, small incentives that give the experience a bit of structure. These additions demonstrate a degree of thoughtfulness in the game’s design, giving it a sense of community and longevity despite its simplicity. It’s a smart move for a game of this type, since the core mechanics alone wouldn’t sustain long-term engagement for most players. Still, the game’s limitations are apparent. As a sliding puzzle, it offers little variation beyond what’s inherent in the format. Once you’ve completed a few puzzles, the rest follow the same predictable rhythm, with no escalation in complexity or introduction of new mechanics to keep things fresh. The lack of additional modes—such as timed challenges, randomized grids, or progressive difficulty levels—means that the experience can feel static after a while. The Workshop integration helps alleviate this somewhat, but ultimately the gameplay remains bound to a single mechanic that doesn’t evolve. For players looking for something more strategic or mentally demanding, Dinosaur Hunt Puzzle may feel too shallow to hold attention for long. However, for those who simply enjoy the process of logical reorganization and find satisfaction in visual completion, it fulfills its purpose without pretension. The technical performance is solid, and like most Racing Bros titles, the game runs smoothly even on older systems. Its lightweight engine and minimal requirements make it accessible to nearly any player, including those with outdated hardware or laptops. The developers clearly intended it as a low-barrier entry into the puzzle genre—easy to install, quick to play, and uncomplicated to understand. In that sense, it succeeds completely. The overall presentation may lack the flair of more polished indie puzzles, but it compensates with stability and ease of use. For many casual players, that’s more important than elaborate effects or narrative context. It’s a reminder that sometimes simplicity is its own virtue, especially in an age where many games overcomplicate their mechanics in the pursuit of depth. Dinosaur Hunt Puzzle is, at its heart, a modest and straightforward product—one that knows exactly what it is and makes no attempt to be more. It’s a relaxing, family-friendly experience with a charming prehistoric theme and a touch of creative potential through its Workshop support. Its greatest strength lies in its accessibility: anyone can pick it up and play, regardless of age, skill, or experience level. At the same time, its simplicity also defines its limits. There’s not much to discover beyond what you see in the first few minutes, and those looking for depth or innovation will find it lacking. Yet within that simplicity is a certain charm, especially for players who appreciate calm, methodical games that can be enjoyed in short sessions. Dinosaur Hunt Puzzle is not a game that aims to impress; it’s a game meant to relax, to fill quiet moments with small, satisfying victories—and in that, it delivers exactly what it promises. Dino Hunt Puzzle is a game that provides a relaxing experience for players; however, it is primarily a puzzle game, and there is little else that can be summarized about it. -Casual: The gameplay is straightforward, while still offering a calming effect for the player. Additionally, the game incorporates dinosaurs to engage its audience. -Gameplay: The puzzle challenges are beneficial for mental stimulation, although this game follows the typical repetitive format found in many puzzles, it is still worth the cost. -Price: Excellent value for its affordable price. If you appreciate casual puzzles and are fond of dinosaur-themed artwork, particularly if you enjoy customizing or sharing content, this game presents excellent value for its affordable price. However, if you are looking for more complex mechanics, a narrative, or multiplayer features, there are more intricate dinosaur games available. I recommend this game as I appreciate that this developer is making an effort to create games rather than just giving up. I give this game a 4 rocks of rock and stones!

“Dinosaur Hunt Puzzle is a sliding puzzle game based on the artwork from original Dinosaur Hunt game.” is how Dinosaur Hunt Puzzle is described on the Steam store page. And that description could not be more accurate. Dinosaur Hunt Puzzle is yet another title released from developer Racing Bros, they have released numerous games in total on the Steam store. All of them being smaller, shorter games, some of them with the “Profile Features Limited” tag, which are games who do not count towards achievements and perfect games on your profile page. When achievement hunting or wether you are a completionist, make sure when you purchase a game from Racing Bros, it does not have this tag and counts towards your totals. Your totals in the Steam client that is, be aware they do count on Steamhunters. Anyway you will be set for a torrent of achievement, as nearly all of their games comes with tons of them. A sliding puzzle game in its purest form. The gameplay offers no different game modes, the only variety in gameplay is in how much pieces the puzzles are divided. Difficulty is set by the amount of pieces on the board, but for someone who comprehends the mechanics of tile sliding puzzles, it does not really matter how much pieces there are. Hardest thing will be to visualize the underlying image to reproduce it afterwards. There are some visualizations and customisation options, like the background alternates for instance. You also can upload your own images to be used in the puzzle system, and a Steam users workshop is available as well, to play other user creations, all with a minimum of tweaking. Do not expect a lot of content from the base game, however, all seems to be kept to a strict minimum. A whopping 5000 achievements can be unlocked, easily achievable in about 15 minutes. If you are looking for a fast, short completed game, this one is for you. No grinding has to be done in order to unlock all of the achievements. It’s not even clear to me as how i managed to unlock the achievements, they seemed to pop randomly. To conclude: I enjoyed this game a little bit, having played tile sliding puzzles occassionally when i was younger, it was a trip back trough memorylane. Sole reason for me to purchase this title on a sale, were the easy achievements and perfect game. Once completed, this is a game i will not come back to again, however. Recommended for: casual, puzzle gamers, achievement hunters and completionists. Cheers, SultanK
