Distrust opens with a compelling and isolating premise: a group of survivors crashes near an abandoned Arctic research base and must fight the cold, starvation, exhaustion, and otherworldly threats in order to escape. The game wastes no time establishing its oppressive atmosphere. Every room feels dim and unfriendly, every gust of wind outside reminds you of how hostile the world has become, and every step into a new building carries the tension that something might go wrong. This tone defines the entire experience. Rather than relying on jump scares, Distrust builds dread through scarcity and uncertainty. You must constantly weigh whether you have enough warmth to explore, enough food to recover spent energy, and enough stamina to continue pushing forward. Everything depletes quickly, and the game ensures you never feel fully safe. The survivors you control each come with their own specialties, and choosing how to combine them becomes a key part of the strategy. One might excel at crafting or repair, while another handles combat or resource gathering more efficiently. These skills matter because the research station is procedurally generated, meaning each run presents a new layout of buildings, items, threats, and obstacles. You’re forced to adapt rather than memorize solutions. Doors are locked, generators break down, heaters require fuel, and you often find yourself triaging needs—do you restore power so you can search a room safely, or do you rush through cold darkness hoping to find something useful before your temperature plummets? This loop of problem-solving and risk assessment gives Distrust its identity. One of the more intriguing mechanics is how the game handles sleep. Resting is essential for survival, yet in Distrust, sleep is often the most dangerous action you can take. Prolonged sleep invites mysterious anomalies that infiltrate the world and become harder to avoid the longer they remain. This creates a unique tension: you know your characters will collapse without rest, but you also know that resting can make the environment more hostile. It’s a clever twist on traditional survival tropes, reinforcing the psychological aspect suggested by the game’s title. As the characters become exhausted or begin to hallucinate, the line between reality and threat blurs, creating moments of uncertainty about what is truly happening. Despite these strengths, Distrust is not without its frustrations. The procedural generation can sometimes feel unfair, placing crucial items too far apart or giving you poor luck with resources early on. When the randomization doesn’t cooperate, even skilled players may feel doomed before their run properly begins. Some elements of the interface can also feel cumbersome, especially when managing item distribution or responding quickly to unexpected events. While the anomalies are conceptually interesting, they don’t always deliver the fear or variety that their introduction promises. Over time, interacting with them becomes more of a mechanical chore than a horror-driven conflict. Still, for players who enjoy survival management and the thrill of barely scraping through dangerous situations, Distrust offers a satisfying challenge. Its multiple characters, branching endings, and unpredictable runs encourage experimentation, and its compact structure makes each attempt feel like a meaningful learning experience. The game is tense, atmospheric, and often gripping when its systems align in the right way. It may not perfect every aspect of its design, but it succeeds in creating a bleak, suspenseful journey where every decision feels like it could tip the balance between survival and disappearance. For anyone who appreciates survival games with strong mood and high stakes, Distrust is a memorable, if sometimes punishing, descent into the dangers of the frozen unknown. Rating: 7/10

Imagine a gamified "The Thing" with its own unique lore. Also, there's guides for the achievement about the ticket event that already passed. Don't worry. It's just a little bit of file editing. Additionally, best team has gotta be Mary Stone, Martin Brown, and then pick from Emil, Phillip, or Casper, depending on your playstyle.

A simple but challenging experience. Don't be fooled if you get through the first two levels on Adventure mode and think "Wow! This is really easy!" The game DOES ramp up, and will force you to prioritize and micro manage your resources. But you can do it, you just gotta focus. Good luck out there, survivor! I believe in you!...

Alot of the people complaining about this game are experiencing nothing more than a skill issue. i saw credits roll on this game in around 2.5 hours on a casual explore everything play through. If they have 40 minutes in this game and complain it's too hard they never really left the tutorial. If you've played Don't Starve, The Long Dark or Dark Souls you'll realise where the complaints are coming from. If you want a game to hold your hand this isn't it, If you want a good, short unique game with steep but short learning curve and some, at times, high pressure decisions and a lot of replay-ability then you should give this game a go.
