I feel that this game went in the wrong direction after early access. This was a great looking atmospheric game which relied on fairly low quality jump scares, but set a creepy environment pretty well. The only way you could "lose" was by screaming, and you ended up feeling lost a lot of the time. Now it's a game where the atmosphere is still outstanding, but they rely just as much on jump scares and the quality has not gone up on them. Instead they seemed to try and fix the only "lethal" part being you making a sound, by throwing traps and enemies in the mix. This however feels under cooked and of the 4 runs I've done, 3 of them I seemingly died out of nowhere. I feel if they focused more on having the scares polished it would've been better for it. The traps aren't designed to make you "scream" they're just instant kills. They did add a lot of locations and made considerable steps to make the game completion friendly, which is very nice! The little lights on each battery and relic really helps you go where you need to go, and I did not feel like I was "touching everything in the hopes something happens" which many other games fall into. The compass feels maybe a touch too strong? For me the game was a little too demanding on the system for what it was (random stutters) and the overall sound-design felt very busy. The game felt uncomfortable with silence and would have a constant blaring ambiance which you can't turn down. OVERALL: I think this is a Perfectly fine indie experience, even though it felt more as if the devs were more interested in playing with UE5 than creating a polished experience. But it's modestly priced and does not waste time. I went in expecting a run or 5 and that's about what I got, with clear room for more if I wanted to reach 100% completion.

When this game first released as Early Access, all the gameplay footage I saw made me think "This is a good concept, but weak in execution. There's no danger so you aren't scared into screaming when things jump at you, you can walk in a circle so exploration isn't needed, and the lore/mystery is too vague to figure out." But when I read what's been improved in 1.0, I felt like this game finally achieved its potential. The scares have a lot more build-up and are dynamic to where you are, there's real threats so you always feel unsafe this time, you have batteries to FORCE you to explore now, and there's lore you collect from items and locations with an arrow to point you in the next direction. I WOULD recommend waiting for a sale, but still. The world and how it works is SO well executed this time, and I'm really glad the devs made it this far with its improvements and such.

Liked the gameplay and the fact that the devs are trying something new! 5/5 jump scare simulator. Learnt something more about myself that I'm not a screamer though, takes the fun slightly away. Will find a screamer friend see if I leave another comment hehe.

The experiment itself, as the developers call it, is a success for me. DON'T SCREAM is a test of endurance and the strength of your nerves. As it is said in the description, you will have to endure 18 game minutes without making sounds, which the game will try in every possible way to cause you with its scrimmers. It is noteworthy that towards the end of the game there are more and more scimmers, which makes the game only more interesting and tense. Anyway, it deserves its money and there is definitely something to love it for.

I have been playing this game on and off since release and I have some observations: Improvements Needed - There's a lot of dead air, I would recommend that the map gets shrunk down so you're not wandering through the woods while nothing happens. - While the battery mechanic is cool, it punishes the player for not finding a battery in time. I was desperately searching for a battery through multiple runs and couldn't find one despite searching multiple buildings. It would be nice if there were more batteries scattered throughout the map or instead of a game over end state the flashlight stopped working. - Add more ways to get into the fenced in areas, you have no idea how excited I was to find a big compound only to not be able to enter it because the game decided to teleport me as I was trying to find the entrance. - Add some environmental story telling. You have a cool market with a bunch of dead bodies, but what's going on here? Who put those bodies up? (side tangent, why are the bodies all female? Gimme some men and/or masc presenting bodies) It feels somewhat objectifying to only see only naked women. - You have some fun creatures in the woods, but they don't do much. I think you're missing the necessary buildup that's needed for a jump scare to properly hit. Tie in some of the good ol environmental story telling or certain cues that are tied to monsters. - I wish the monsters would actually attack you. That way you have a reason to avoid them. Every time I saw one I would sigh and walk up to them to get the scare over with. Maybe a three hits and you're dead system? Or cluster them around the batteries so you have to interact with them. I think what I'm saying here is add tension and the scares will hit harder. - Can the spiders do more than strut up to you? I desperately want to be afraid of them, I really do, but they're just so lame. - Maybe add some side objectives? I may have misinterpreted the one event, but I think there was a guy looking for his dog? Maybe let me find the dog and if I return it to him I get batteries or lose time. The Good Stuff - Damn this game looks GOOD, really enjoy the aesthetic of the environment. - Some of your monsters are good. In particular the mannequins that move when you're not looking, they were able to get my heart rate up a little (especially in conjunction with the foot step sound effect that happened to play when I was dancing around them). - Some of the sound design was creepy. I really enjoy when the siren goes off as it's getting dark. Overall this game has some great bones, but is lacking polish. I understand this is a small dev team, so I'm not going to be super critical of it as of now. Hopefully this game will get really good in the coming updates. Keep improving this game devs, I want to soil my pants next time you update!
