Solid game although short in content. The game excels in art: amazing designs and amazing animations. It also excels in gameplay with super sharp controls, and in build creation. With a very good variety of builds to try out. It's not perfect though, the game has little content and there is little variety for a roguelike, you will always see the same bosses, and you will most likely blast through them in a very short amount of time. In your first run you will likely get some OP legendary gear that you can carry to the next one. And one thing that really turned me off is the music is quite bland and generic, doesn't go well with the game. But all that said, the game is worth it. The art and controls really does it for me. You're in for a good experience.

It's good but it needs work. Gameplay is fun, but balancing could be better and needs some more content. UI is also pretty awkward in places. Dialogue should also be reduced down, there is way too much. If they keep working on it, it could be a really fantastic game. Edit: After playing a good bit more, the game evolves quite well as you play into end game. Itemization is good, and there are some interesting synergies that you will need to explore as the game difficulty has some huge spikes that require understanding the damage multipliers. The initial review still stands though, game needs quite a bit of work, but even at the current state the game is really good.

Very fun game so far! It's a very competent, super gorgeous mix of Diablo and... I guess Dead Cells? A run in this is a linear affair where you follow a set sequence of levels as you build your character like you would in a simplified version of Diablo, pretty much. The combat is fairly basic, but I'm having fun with it so far - you get four active skill slots plus your basic attack chain to play around with. Three classes to unlock, plenty of loot to find, plenty of builds to try out - should you die, you get thrown back to the beginning of the run again and all your levels get reset, but you keep both your gear and unlocked loot level (the farther you get, the higher the level of whatever loot you find). It's a fairly grind-intensive experience, but that's kind of a given with any looter game. Oh and the story (or rather the translation) is pretty bad honestly, characters waffle on and on about inane nonsense. That said, if you go into a roguelite expecting a grandiose story, you need to get your priorities straight. I definitely recommend checking it out, especially during a sale! Depending on your tastes, this might count as a veritable hidden gem.

This game is everything I wish Dead Cells was - I really wanted to like Dead Cells but it was not for me, way too difficult without any way to mitigate the challenge through progression (well, there was but it was very limited). Plus, the difficulty and learning curve were really steep. This is not the case with Dragon is Dead. If you are familiar with ARPG games like Diablo or Path of Exile, you can optimize your character to make the game much easier. Plus, everything about this title is top notch - the vibe is very Berserk-like, dark fantasy with some asian folklore thrown into the mix. Combat feels great, really polished and progression is extremely rewarding and meaningful. Totally recommended, great game that is much more Roguelite than Roguelike.
