This game turned out to be a hidden gem for me and a gateway to golden sweet nostalgia from the good old times. A majority of the content is so well done with a great passion for details but of course there are a few flaws as well. ✅ Timeless visual artstyle with a beautiful scenery and a lot of model creativity. ✅ The soundtrack is just wonderful, dreamy and atmospheric. A perfect fantasy fit. ✅ The entire vibe and mistery of the established game world and plot feels archaic in a very sweet way, but also deep and ancient and it pulled me a lot. ✅ The game takes a LOT of time in everything what youre doing and its one of the few where its actually a really good thing. Everything has animations, looting, skinning, taking a plant or lockpicking and and and and it rolls on your skill checks and in the whole picture its just so relaxing in a way i can hardly describe but its GOOD. ✅ Controls, systems and stats are quickly understandable even if you never play such games. ✅The followers and different archetypes that you gotta combine to get a good flow in combat are really interesting and motivational. ✅ Boss fights are fun and interesting and reward you with nice gear as well ✅ I love how every piece of gear is visible both on the characters as well in their little icons and theres a good bunch of unique gear and particular weapons with special effects that felt rewarding to find and mess with. So progression overall in levelups and skills, gear and economy..all of that really hooked me. Its simple but feels very satisfying. ✅ Rolls on dodge and parry got actual animations where characters block hits with their shields or weapons or dodge out of the way, dope detail! Sadly doesnt work for every enemy type. ✅ Multiple interesting maps and cities each with their own stories and vast handplaced details. ✅ There are a ton of small and funny sidequests that are very memorable and even if theyre super fetch like they still tell their own tale and rarely feel truly generic. These also pop up again and again in new "chapters" in already visited hub worlds. ✅ The main plot is alright. Its not crazy and it falls of towards the end a lot but atleast the first half was a lot of fun. ❌ Requires manual fixing to even get it to start today. In my case it was pretty simple just typing a code into the starting commands for the game launch and it was fine afterwards. ❌ While the overworlds are always handcrafted and particular pretty much the opposite goes for dungeons. Especially ferdok underground tunnels that you also find in multiple castles, ruins and graveyards ALWAYS look exactly the same and theyre waaaay too long and man it just feels tedious af. One of the worst parts of the game and its really not fun. ❌ The ending is really bad. Not directly by plot which is okay but the entire gameplay aspect behind it, firstup with some mindless puzzles that never occured before followed by a mountaintop with an endless hardcore mob spawner that you cant fight through, and instead being forced to just tank the wave to hit the spawner is very bad. ❌ The camera is pretty weird to control in a few situations and gets floaty af ❌ Most of the dialogue isnt voiced so you gotta read a lot All in all i had a blast playing this game. I somehow never noticed its existence despite being literally what i was searching so desperately in the past few years being a oldschool rpg nostalgic dude. Its one of the best rpgs i have ever played despite its flaws and it has such a beautiful and immersive core. Really recommend anyone interested who is fine with doing a little research and how to get it to run.
