Sept. 2025
Ignore MOST negative reviews. They simply haven't dived into the game properly, expecting to see Dungeon Warfare 2. Neither are there impossible maps, nor do you have to follow a specific layout, nor is the difficulty too high. Truth is, there are plenty of ways of increasing your skills and your towers outcome, as well several attributes of a map. You just have to pay a little bit more attention, on how the map tiles work, that you can enhance your sigils and charms, and that traps have also additional abilities to activate. If someone is "stuck", then because they have missed/overseen one or several of these. The maps have a great replaybility! You do not just simply replay them, to gather more experience. No, by using inidividually to your liking the runes and their level you prefer in a desirable combination, a map becomes more "!advanced" and challenges you to use your newly gained traps and abilities in a different way. You can solve literally any map in so many ways and they never feel the same, when played for greater challenge and rewards! By cleverly setting out your map tiles, you can even change the maps in several ways. No matter, if you prefer to simply gain more experience, lower enemy health, increase the amount of enemies in every wave and many other things. And if you don't like something how it plays out, or even if it may seem too difficult, you can always get the tiles map into your hand and place the levels on a position more beneficial. As example., there are even lots of ways to increase your gold at the start, so you won't get stuck not having enough to buy or upgrade traps... that's just the reviews of those who did not look into the new mechanics and expected "DW2 improved". The secret and generated maps are even more fun, I love them the most! The game, once you figured out all the new things it comes with, is quite enjoyable and fun, while offering an improved way of modifying your maps to your liking. I first thought too, verey early, that the new mechanics are hard and bad, but a handful more maps, until I started seeing all the new you unlock one by one and the endless possibilities for full customization you get! Allow the game to introduce these things, learn the new mechanics. Truely, there are so many great maps and challenges here to achieve and be rewarded... do you really want to miss out?

I don't write full reviews often (though I do maintain a curator group to recommend particularly good games), but I feel the need to counter some of the negative reviews. DW3 is a great game. If you skipped DW2, DW3 feels like a perfect successor to the first. It's fantastically balanced and brings back the challenge of thinking through each new map to figure out what your optimal trap options and placements are. It also has a lot of flexibility. There's dozens of traps to unlock, and each trap has 3 tiers of 3 upgrades to select as well as 3 unlockable "charms" that give them another unique effect. On top of that, the new sigil system allows you to unlock and equip perks that affect everything (enemies move slower, take more damage, break shields faster, etc). If you LOVED DW2, DW3 may feel like a downgrade. 2's system of finding a ton of randomized runes to sort through is gone, and there's less focus on randomly generated maps. Personally, I felt that system was a chore, and it led to poor balance like allowing the player to build entirely around one overpowered trap. Overall, I love it. DW3 captures the magic of DW1 while offering the high flexibility introduced in DW2 and avoiding its pitfalls. At its core, it's a challenging TD about splattering hundreds of mobs!

I'm giving this a positive score because DW1 and DW2 are my favorite TD games, period. But man, I hate DW3's world map so, so, so much. In DW1, you unlock stages on the world map from left to right. Left stages are easier, right stages are harder. In DW2, you unlock stages on the world map from bottom left to top right. Bottom left stages are easier, top right stages are harder. In DW3, you get stupid cards that you can place anywhere, so the stages are in any nonsense order. I hate anything involving deck building in games, and this is the last place I want a deck of cards. Because of this system, the world map remains thoroughly unintuitive, and sifting through stages to find one to play feels like a chore every time.

Solid! Reading other reviews I was expecting massive difficulty spike.... Yea, no. This is a well paced, slow burn type of game. Those expecting to unlock all, and be able to breeze through 100 waves of endless 5 hours in will be disappointed.

Great Game, but harder than the predecessors. I like the new challenge. There are so many ways to upgrade and improve your traps and even the dungeons. By far the best of the 3 games. It reminds me of "GemCraft" which is a big plus for me.
