Review from the perspective of a dad with very limited time: Honestly, a terrible choice if you’re looking for a quick gaming session. A single run can take up to 40 minutes, and since you cannot pause the game, this becomes a real problem — especially in Duo or Trio. You cannot simply pause an online multiplayer game! So be warned: you need a proper time slot to play this game in peace. This is not a “jump in for 10 minutes” kind of experience. That said: It takes a while to get used to the pace — but once it clicks… oh boy, this game absolutely slaps. The power spikes hit hard, and when everything comes together, it feels insanely good. Despite the time commitment issues: 9/10 Soulslike — amazing gameplay, just not parent-friendly.

Drop in as Revenant only to see your Raider go to an evergaol on level 1, then die there twice and leave the game. The game itself is very addicting, even after you complete the "main story" and all personal stories, it calls to me louder than a bottle of beer on a Friday evening. Despite being a rouge-like battle royal themed PvE game, you have a relic system, that allows to pivot your character's build in a certain direction, so not everything is left up to your luck. It kind of feels like gambling with relic effects is the 80% of this game. The game is also vulnerable to certain cheating methods, due to the way the save data is stored. It's far from flying or instantly killing anything in a kilometer-wide kill zone, but it might make your play-through easier than it should've been. If your trio knows the basics of the game and there's a single person leading you through the Lands Between, the game will seem pretty easy, despite what everyone says. The real difficulty comes from your teammates, who might be on a completely different wavelength than you. Anyhow, whatever the case is, please, don't instantly disconnect from the game at the earliest inconvenience, especially if it's an early death during first day. Bad RNG happens, gameplay mistakes happen, people new to the game might be completely lost in the sauce. Don't let that one small failure dictate that the run should be ended on the spot. In 99% of the cases people bounce back, even if a level is lost. It's not that serious.
