I had this game sitting on my wishlist forever, just thinking it was some Diablo clone. Then all the hype of the Odyssey movie got me thinking of trying this out. Im so glad i did. I never liked Souls like games cause I dont have the skills to get goud. When I play any game I usually play on the second hardest difficulty. But I do love Souls like combat and I always wish I could find a game with the combat without all the sweaty elements that make the souls games insufferable to someone like me. You can laugh at this comment and think im the type who just want games on easy, which I don't. I hated Fable 2 cause it was a move forward game and press x and win. This game was a dream come true. You got a mega chad hero, with decent graphics. A serviceable story line and amazing souls like combat. But the best of all there is a difficulty setting. So I can live my best life playing it on the second hardest difficulty. Sorry I have close to 3000 games on steam and I like to play most of them in my life time. No time to get goud.

The game is ok, but nothing more. 4/10 The kind of arpg to play whilst watching videos or listening to an audio book. Get it on sale only. The good: If you enjoy the Greek setting this one has a nice all star cast, some familiar names whilst having its own story. Graphics are decent and the environment is nice. The neutral: Music, Voice acting and Level design are all okay, nothing inspiring but alright. The bad: The combat gets old quickly, the skill system and loot are uninspired to the point where neither level ups nor new gear are “fun”. There is no way to improve your poise, level 1 or level 50 you are getting kicked around by basic enemies like a ball. Same for stun locks, groups of even mediocre enemies are vastly more dangerous than any Boss, since every hit interrupts your actions. Foes are placed in weird, story defying, spots and are so mixed that any damage specialization (like fire or dark) makes no sense since even a single basic basement contains everything from bandit, a pack of wolves to mythical poison spiders. The different weapons make little difference and will hardly change your play style. Neither will the few skills. The handful of unlocks in the skill tree that are not just stats are uninspired and boring. When a shield counter and drinking health potions faster are your highlights you know something is wrong.

This is not a special game of any sort. A story-driven ARPG with a souls-like flavor. If you're craving a top-down couch game that is not too difficult with some light RPG elements, and you don't have anything else to play, then for the price tag (with and without sale), you get around 20 hours of gameplay, which is a good deal. The game has two modes, the main story one which keeps looping into new game +, and another arcade mode, where you defeat waves of enemies either solo or in coop. You use the same character for the arcade mode, so you can level the story character and unlock weapons and skills while playing that mode. I found it to be a nice touch. The souls-like tag comes from having a shrine that resets enemies, you lose your current XP towards the next level when you die, and it has the dodge rolling Iframe. Overall, it's a decent experience, light story, clear upgrade path for the character and weapons, and no bugs and annoyances across the board.

At first, I had a hard time getting into the game. I started it once, then put it aside. Now I picked it up again and it really drew me in. Achilles Legends Untold is an ARPG with Souls-like elements such as a bonfire, and when you die you have to recover your lost souls. The combat feels fast and solid, the enemy designs look good, and the different enemy types are distinct. However, there could be a bit more variety among them. Now to the most important part of an ARPG: the loot. Unfortunately, there isn’t much to expect here. Weapons come with different rarities, and the rarer they are the more damage they do. Anyone hoping for unique modifiers that significantly change gameplay will be disappointed. Leveling up also doesn’t feel very rewarding, since you usually only get +1 to an attribute and only rarely unlock a skill that meaningfully changes your playstyle. The game is carried much more by its combat flow and story. The story ties into the Trojan War, so fans of Greek mythology will feel right at home. All in all, it’s a pretty nice game, but for me it lacks long-term motivation. That’s why I give it a 6/10 — and if Greek mythology doesn’t interest you, it’s probably more like a 5/10.

A good game. Do not expect super deep character builds, but do expect a "fun & worthy" ~17 hours of top down action RPG goodness.
