I don't know what to even say here that hasn't been echoed a thousand times before. Is this the best Indie RPG of all-time? Most likely. Is this one of the best RPGs of all-time? Absolutely. Is this a masterclass in the genre that should be treated as study material for any would-be developers hoping to make an RPG of their own? Without a single doubt. Everything about this game screams "refined". It's easily created the best combat system in RPG history. Every single tool you have, is used. Every piece of equipment, every skill you learn, has purpose. From the starter gear to the endgame items post-Secret Bosses. You can and will find a purpose for everything you gain. It solves one of the biggest problems of RPGs where you just outgrow certain abilities/equips through its upgrade system. It lets you bring starter items and tier 1 skills, to the endgame. Which you will have purpose for using because of enemy element types and turn cooldowns on your stronger abilities. Combining that with such a well-balanced system, makes for one of the best experiences you can find in a turn-based RPG. The writing is perfect for the tone of the series. It's a lighthearted narrative focusing more on the antics of the party, less any big, overarching story for most of the game. Expect a story that at surface level, doesn't take itself too seriously until the end, but instead prioritizes you building (or rebuilding) a connection with the cast. The art style is absolutely gorgeous, too. Everything is just so charming to look at. Between the cutscenes, overworld, battle sprites and animations, the game just looks SO good. And its style, like its gameplay, is timeless. This game looked great 7 years ago, and will still look great 20 years from now. We NEED more games that use unique styles, and this series is some of the strongest proof of that. In closing? Play this game. It's an absolute gem, and easily claims the spot as the best RPG I've ever played. I lucked out back in the Flash days of finding EBF1/2/3 on random Flash sites. The fact it's still relatively unknown even in the Indie scene, is shocking. Epic Battle Fantasy is to RPGs, what Hollow Knight is to Metroidvanias. And if this truly is the final Epic Battle Fantasy? As much as it would suck to not get to experience another new game in this series? I don't blame Matt. It'd be damn-near impossible to improve upon this. And what a hell of a high note to end the series on. And if you're reading this, Matt? You made a masterpiece that contends with any title by any major developer. Few games will ever achieve the quality and legacy EBF has achieved. And thank you for making a series that always reminds me why I love RPGs to begin with. Looking forward to your future projects, as well! I know you'll continue making exceptional experiences.

I remembered this game from the old Kongregate days, and rediscovering it has been a fantastic surprise. The characters and the humor are still the heart of the whole series. It’s charming, fun, and just feels good to play. Honestly, I really wish we’d get an EBF6 someday.

First mission: "Get the electricity back so you can keep playing Minecraft 😊" Final mission: stop god from crossing to your dimensidimension💀 🏆 Overall Score: 10/10 🏆 ⚔️ Gameplay ⚔️ ☐ Just bad ☑ Repetitive ☑ Fun ☐ Casual ☑ epic [It's literally in the name] 📘 Story 📘 ☐ none ☐ Bad ☐ Alright ☐ Good ☑ Fantastic [really goofy and really cool, you could even call it epic; the soft reboot is quite a cool idea and was executed perfectly] ✨ Graphics ✨ ☐ Bad ☐ Alright ☐ Good ☑ Beautiful [we got new sprites for Nat's limit break (it had been the same since EBF1) along with new lewd outfits xD] ☐ Breathtaking 🎶 Music 🎵 ☐ Bad ☐ Regular ☐ Good ☑ Relaxing [Except when it is being epic] ☑ Epic [Phyrnna blessed this franchise, imo it's not as iconic as EBF4's but still a couple of really cool tracks] ☐ Repetitive ☠️ Difficulty ☠️ ☐ Boring ☐ Easy ☐ Regular ☑ Hard [I'm really bad at turn based RPGs lol] ☐ Unfair 👾 Bugs 👾 ☐ Unplayable ☐ very Bugy ☑ bugy [just a couple of framre rate drops in battle but doesn't really affect the gameplay] ☐ Speed-run/cheaty bugs ☐ bug free ⏳ Game time / Length ⌛ ☐ Tiny (0 - 3 hours) ☐ Short (5 - 10 hours) ☐ Average (10 - 20 hours) ☑ Long (30-50 hours) [for one playthrough and without the optional dungeons] ☐ Grindy (60 -100 hours) ☐ One Piece (100+ hours) 💸 Buying Price 💸 ☑ Fair [Full Price] (you can also try an older version on mobile for free!) ☐ Pricy [wait for Sale] ☐ Unfair [Borrow it from a friend] ☐ Stupid [Just pirate it] ❎ Should you Buy? ✅ ☐ Please Don't ☐ Not really ☐ Yes ☐ Absolutely ☑ Must-Have 🙂My 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 Opinion🙃 I absolutely hate turn based RPGs but I love this game, how? I call it the Roszak Paradox, I came across this franchise back in the good old days of Kongregate Flash games with "Adventure Stroy" (the best game of the franchise in my humble opinion) and I always ignored the pop-up add with Mighty Oak telling me to play this game, Now I don't know if I regret not playing it back then or if I'm grateful I got to experience playing the series in chronological order thanks to the Steam release of EBF collection (which includes EBF1 and 2, Adventure story, Bullet Heaven 1 and some other cool games). I love how this series just keeps getting better with each release (something not even AAA games can do) and the passion every frame of animation and every line of dialogue have behind. The variety of abilities, enemies, and pets is just awesome, they are so whimsical and epic and you can almost see the little kid Matt's original sketchbook deep inside the eyes of every creature in the game (I love bushes lol) plus the Data bunker is an amazing way to experience the previous games with modern features, the perfect Finale for the perfect franchise; Tho I still hope we get EBF6 someday, in the meantime I'll just enjoy Matt's hiden cats

Very much the peak of turn based rpg, it's really addicting! EBF5 has one of the best combat systems I've played, where buffs and debuffs feel like they matter, where status conditions cannot just be tanked and overlooked, and even though some of the bosses were extremely challenging, it makes it even more satisfying once you have defeated them. The gear system actually feels rewarding, instead of just ditching old gear to get better new gear each set is useful in different situations and really makes you think for each fight! The characters are lovable, and it's a very silly game that doesn't take itself too seriously. The replay value is great too, there's many challenges you can enable for yourself to have a new playthrough every single time, it's great! Highly recommend buying, every turn based fan should try EBF5 at least once in their life.

Honestly a pretty fun game with a lot of content. It's also pretty fun strategising and building loadouts for certain bosses as well as trying out new spells. For a game released in 2018 it holds up pretty well in the current year. Sad that there won't be an EBF6 but it is what it is.
