24.9 hours — 100% completed. I've finished every official room, every Darkest Room, and all achievements. Escape Simulator 2 doesn't fundamentally reinvent the formula from the first game, but I don't think it needed to. The core gameplay is still very similar: search the environment, collect information, connect clues, and slowly work your way toward the solution. The biggest improvements for me are the presentation and polish. The new art style is much more realistic, and compared with the first game, I also ran into far fewer of the bugs that sometimes made the original frustrating. The best part of the game is easily the puzzle design. Most puzzles feel distinct, creative, and deliberately constructed rather than being endless variations of "find four numbers and enter a code." The overall difficulty isn't extremely high, but many puzzles require genuinely strong logical reasoning, which is exactly what I want from an escape-room game. The recent Illusion Room is probably my favorite. It combines optical illusions with puzzle solving extremely well, and it's a great example of how the developers can still come up with new ideas even after making so many rooms. The final challenge, The Temple , is on the opposite end of the difficulty spectrum. I could not solve it completely on my own and eventually had to use a guide, and even with the guide it still took me a surprisingly long time. It is brutally difficult compared with most of the game, but I can't really complain because the design itself is extremely creative. I'm much less interested in hunting for tokens. I enjoy solving puzzles, not staring at every corner of a room trying to figure out whether a tiny collectible is hidden behind some random object, so I simply used a guide for those. Multiplayer is also a bit of a contradiction. Playing with friends is definitely more fun, and escape rooms naturally create a lot of great moments when several people are throwing ideas around at the same time. But multiplayer can actually make some rooms take longer . Information and important items get divided between different players, and sometimes a teammate solves an entire puzzle while you're looking at something on the other side of the room. Then suddenly a door opens and you have absolutely no idea what just happened. Single-player is much easier for keeping track of every clue and understanding the complete logic of a room. Multiplayer is more chaotic, but also more entertaining. I enjoy both for different reasons. The Workshop is another major strength. There are already plenty of genuinely high-quality community-made rooms, and good user-created content gives a game like this an enormous amount of extra life once you've finished the official material. After completing everything the developers have released so far, my main impression is that Escape Simulator 2 simply understands what makes this genre enjoyable: creative puzzles, satisfying logical connections, varied environments, and just enough freedom to make you feel clever when everything finally clicks. If you liked the first game, this is an easy recommendation. And if you enjoy logic puzzles in general, just be prepared for The Temple to remind you that you are not nearly as smart as the previous rooms made you feel.

The VR Open Beta just started, but the VR support feels almost like an officially supported VR title. I didn't find any serious issues whatsoever. Escape Simulator 2 is an improvement on the first title in almost every way. The biggest improvement is the visuals. The game looks so much better now IMO. The themed locations look great in VR. The game also runs at a pretty steady 90 fps on my RTX 5090. You have full locomotion, along with smooth or snap turning. Most of the interactions are point & click, so it's definitely not a VR first or VR only title. However, you can interact with many objects and mostly just break stuff. You can play comfortably seated as well. The only issue I noticed was when I backed into a tree (in-game) and got a black screen. However, simply moving out fixed the issue. Rate ?/10. Easy recommend, thinking anywhere from 7/8 rating. I bought this game!
