Im getting the vibes I got from 76, in the sense it's not really a story based rpg like most fallouts, but more combat focused. If you liked the feel and combat of 1 and 2 you'll most likely enjoy this.

Tactics is often hailed as one of the worse Fallout games but it's really not. It's one of the times that they decided to do something different with the IP and I frankly think it worked rather well. Instead of really being an RPG it's a turn based squad strategy game with the Fallout elements all there. I played it when it first came out and I've always had a soft spot for it. They took several parts from this game and used them in later Fallout entries also. I think if you like Fallout, you'll like this.

It's vulgar, it's trashy, it's corny, and I f**ing love it One of my all time favorites. Favorites in order - Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics then Fallout 1. I own it on disc but wanted to get it for my Steam account as well. I've played through the game about a dozen times. I probably revisit it every year when the weather starts to cool off. If you're a fan of these turn-based strategy games, you'll probably love this one! HOWEVER, this game also offers CTB mode, which is continuous turn-based, meaning you still have action point usage but running doesn't cost AP, and the battle happens in real-time as opposed to you and the enemy having individual turns. I prefer to play this game in CTB but sometimes strategy requires switching to turn-based, which can easily be done in game. The game has a mix of real life weapons and unique weapons, and a small but cool variety of armor so you can do a bit of customization with your team. You basically use them the exact same way as you would use your main character. 100% recommend, and goes on sale pretty frequently. Don't miss out on this gem!

Highly underrated, a very well-designed tactical strategy game set in the Fallout universe, and a great combination of RPG and micro-management RTS elements, it's more like a Fallout version of Men of War/Call to Arms. But the Steam version seems to have some problems when you launch the game, the GoG version doesn't have such issues. If you can't launch the game, try these steps below: 1.Hit the Play button from the Steam launcher as normal. 2.Select Play Windowed (Workaround for Windows 8) 3.Select Play from menu launcher. 4.Install this feature if you don't have DirectPlay. 5.Select Options from the title menu. 6.Select the Display tab in the top middle. 7.Select Default in the bottom left. 8.Select Done. 9.Select Exit. 10.Run as normal from the Steam launcher.

Don't go into this game thinking it's like the previous two games. Tactics focuses on combat more than RPG elements, which might be apparent from the name. If you enjoy the combat or similar games (xcom, jagged alliance) then it's a decent game. Weapon variety is great compared to the previous games. Different ammunition available for weapons is a nice change, can't remember if the older ones had this. Hub system is a nice new addition, especially because it doesn't come with any dreadful base building mechanics. Realtime combat makes encounters faster and if you play on easier difficulties you can just use realtime all the time. Vehicular combat is a hit and miss, personally I don't understand why designers bring these to action games. Just go make a separate driving game. Apart from character development there's not many RPG elements. Quests don't really have choices, it's either you do it or don't. The ending mission has some options, but even it feels like your previous actions don't really affect it. Just shoot everything and don't even think about asking anything, supersonic lead is a question in itself. Old RPG caveats apply. Have multiple saves and save often. It is really easy to brick your save by getting oneshot before the save finishes or just saving to a bug that deadlocks the game. Stability is okay, maybe five crashes during the whole playthrough. There's a bug in the final mission where you need to nuke a door. If the timer goes to negative and the bomb doesn't go off then load a save where the timer is still running and run down the clock on turn-based mode. If you don't have a save then you're fucked, enjoy replaying the whole game.
