A quiet journey through a broken world that somehow feels beautiful instead of hopeless. There’s almost no dialogue, yet the game says so much through its music, atmosphere, and lonely landscapes. Every mile feels like a memory, and every little repair feels like keeping a small piece of hope alive. It’s short, simple, and deeply emotional.
FAR: Lone Sails is a great example that gamers don't need 20-50 hours to enjoy the game, and developers don't need years of development and huge budgets to tell interesting stories. A game that requires only 3 hours of your time can still provide a feeling of a fully finished emotional experience.
Sometimes a quiet journey leaves a stronger mark than a loud one FAR: Lone Sails won me over with a very simple idea executed really well: moving across a dry, desolate world aboard a machine that almost feels like a character of its own. The game blends exploration, small puzzles, vehicle maintenance, and a nearly wordless form of storytelling that depends heavily on atmosphere. What stood out most to me was exactly that, how well it conveys loneliness, curiosity, and constant movement without overloading anything. The pacing is also very clean, which made it easy for me to settle into its rhythm. I enjoyed it a lot because it is the kind of game that asks me to slow down and simply let the trip carry me forward. I liked taking care of the machine, solving obstacles, and watching the scenery tell its story without explaining too much. My warning is that it does not offer much action, and it may feel too simple if someone is looking for deeper systems or constant challenge. Even so, I strongly recommend it to players who value atmosphere, contemplative journeys, and short but memorable experiences.
There is no real story but the visual tell everything you need to know. The game is about the atmosphere, the sound design and puzzle solving. There are no enemies or NPCs, you have to maintain your little sailing machine, manage fuel and just enjoy the environment. This game taught me to not take things for granted. Not a single word spoken in the game but the way environment told us the story and the location it's situated like it's end of everything which really stood out. Story telling was good and short I wish it could be longer but again that's not the problem cuz if the story is short but memorable then it's more than good. The puzzles are great and makes you think even when the answer is right in front of you. World building, art, animations and soundtracks is amazing. Now about the Engine there are many ways to refuel the tank and you can collect it on the way but there is one specific object which can refuel the tank to the max but at a cost of your engine which I won't tell you not gonna spoil it. I really liked the simple controls very easy to learn and you can speed-run it. Spoiler alert ending broke me as if fate was decided it was truly a "Lone Sails" after all. Game is worth it not boring at all fun to speed-run. 100% WORTH IT
