Bird lives matter! It's basically a limbo-like game but without the hard puzzles and more focused on platforming and story telling. There are some annoying bits for sure and I don't understand why the developer is shoving down the throat to everyone that it's their first game. It's such a petty thing to in my opinion, that's not an excuse for making a bad game. Luckily, this one is alright albeit a little short, can be longer if you want to get all achievements but I wouldn't say it's really worth going for.

While not flawless, this game is highly impressive for a first game of a small studio. A lot of inspirations are obviously drawn from Limbo and Little Nightmares, but I also from Oddworld. It's a nice 2 hours one shot, some scenes are truly beautiful and some animations are really well made. Can't wait to see what next games Monokel are gonna cook, it is very promising.

I am playing it on my Steam Deck without any issue. No modification to the settings, the game or Steam OS have been done. Looks to me completely compatible with Steam Deck. This game reminds me Limbo, but with 3D. Beautiful "noir"style.

Charming light puzzle solving walking sim in a good atmosphere. It evokes my memory of Limbo but contains less violence, Little Nightmares but less horror and intensity. If you are fast, you can completed it in 2 hours. Presented in b/w with simple controls, White Shadows doesn’t demand control skill but test timing. Jumping can feel slightly laggy, especially in the level with vertical open and close trapdoors, and dodging gunshots from surveillance cameras can be tricky. Despite these issues, this game is a lot of fun. The setting seems to draw inspiration from George Orwell’s Animal Farm, with “All animals are equal” signs scattered throughout but pigs are in power, birds are labeled as criminals. The city is split into two parts. One is mostly high-tech automated factories with monorails, where you need to do time jumps to travel; cool acorn shaped aircraft, bad wolf robot as end level mini boss... Your character is fragile, one hit means restarting but the checkpoint is nearby. The other part of the city is underdeveloped, with deserted metal scraps and elevators powered by pig walking on a round conveyor instead of electricity. Besides the nice town settings, the camera angles are a highlight, clearly designed with skill or professional photographers. The camera zooms in or out for events on time, and looks up when your character ascends, capturing aircraft leaving instead of following with a flat horizon view. Many moments are well executed. Puzzles starts out easy like pushing a box to make a stair or block doors then gradually adds difficulty, but not hard or overly simplistic either. That hammer puzzle has multiple ways to solve and an Easter Egg achievement. A fun detail is getting an umbrella “eaten” by a machine. The ending is confusing, but I found that common for indie games that focus more on gameplay than storytelling. Overall, White Shadows is of good quality and great value, especially during a major sale. [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/43342176-Why-Not-Games/#browse] My curator page
