Game cool and good, but in my opinion only for biggest Fate fans. There is main, kinda interesting story, but most of the game is fluff content. Fluff background content about servants was cool, but after over 30h of mostly fan service I kinda got bored at the end. There are also some characters added that don't really add anything worthwhile. Ending itself also not the greatest, it the kind that supposed to make you think. I guess they had to do it this way to not invalidate previous endings. Caren best character added. I enjoyed it and at last played all through all good Fate games. Shame they didn't continue with story games and went on making gacha garbage.
Fate/hollow ataraxia is a very underrated sequel to Fate/stay night, but I would say it is almost just as important to the Fate franchise. These two games are pretty much all you need as a foundation to the whole Fate universe, if you ever wish to continue with other Fate media. First of all, the game itself is quite different to the original Fate/stay night visual novel, since its story is not as linear and also, in my experience, a little bit more difficult to understand. It is much more mysterious than the other 3 routes, but if I had to compare it to a specific route, I would say if you loved Heaven's Feel, then you will probably love this as well. Furthermore, I would say that this story is also quite sad and emotional. It definitely affected me deeply enough to tear me up a little bit. Also, as a reminder, if you prefer Shirou to be voiced, then you can turn his voice on in the settings, since he is muted by default. In addition, the game has a lot more slice of life elements to it than Fate/stay night, but a lot more fanservice and, in my opinion, some content that could be very uncomfortable by modern-day standards, as a 2000s anime game, at least in my experience. However, even if you hate those parts, the main story itself is a masterpiece, and worth getting into. As a bonus, the game also has quite a few minigames, which are kind of a mixed bag for me. They are hard to fully complete, but even so, quite fun at times. Just do not feel pressured to complete them! In terms of time commitment, you should expect the full game to take you about half of how many hours it took you to complete Fate/stay night. In conclusion, I would say that Fate/hollow ataraxia is very much worth it for the ones who liked Fate/stay night. It is a well-done extension of the story and the characters.
Shirou's voice is still muted by default. Unmute him in the settings when he first appears if you want. I found it quite a fun and enjoyable sequel/spin-off. Besides the new gimmick, it's a more linier visual novel than Fate/stay night. It also establishes a lot of stuff that later Fate manga and anime will reference, so this too can be pretty essential. The translation text is also more clean and consistent in this one.
I've been following these series for a very long time I've been playing Fate/Grand Order (FGO) for over 8 years I first encountered the series when I was 13-14 years old Now I'm 23-24 and I still love it, and will continue to love TYPE-MOON forever I had the opportunity to play it because I started reading English better and had some money It's another game I recommend for those who like the Fate/series
