So everyone is looking for a dinosaur game, including me. When I first heard about Ferocious, I was really excited. I played the Demo version which was rough around the edges but still had character. I bought the full game and have logged about 5 hours on it. So far, I really enjoy it. There are some bugs and issues but overall I don't want to stop playing the game. The world is gorgeous, the combat is fast paced but could be cleaner. There have been a few isues with some enemies disappearing after being killed. I'm writing this review after finishing a whole base then the game crashed. I can tell the devs worked hard on this game but the game is still sorta buggy. I would love to see the game devs team up with a bigger studio to rerelease the game. Overall though, I would recommend this game.

Yes, this game is a bit janky. However I can't help but enjoy it. As others have said it combines a few games into one, but doesn't do anyone of them super well. Best way to describe this game, is that it is a remake of an old game we all played growing up, but forgot about. I like the secrets hidden on the map, progress feels rewarding, and the gun fights feel heavy. HOWEVER. As of the time writting this, I do not recommend if you planning to play on controller. It has no aim assist, and most of the guns have a lot of (visual) recoil. So controlling them feels impossible (all the controls work though). Feels great on mouse. The dino gameplay builds slow, and I didn't get to control any for about 4 hours, however, I was looking around a lot. It's mostly linear, with little areas to explore around that. Definetely not open world, and I'm ok with that. Crafting actually helps, and yes you can turn off the red dots over enemy heads, remove yellow paint lines, and not have resources glow for a better experience. I also love having no hud, and the ammo count is checked per gun by holding reload. My biggest issues are the lack of assist on controller, background audio tracks looping and being to repetitive, and getting stuck on low ledges because he randomly can't jump well. This is a one man development team, and it achieves a lot despite this. If you're ok with accepting a fun game with some jank. Then help support developers trying to compete in an industry where AAA titles are mostly dead and woke.

I love it. For what it is currently, It's certainly worth the exploration. I honestly think folks are WAY to hard on each other, especially for a game like this that quite different in all aspects of what the usual norm is. Usual shooters. Dares to be different. Folks are saying that the game isn't fully done. currently, it's kind of unpolished. which makes me question, what are you guys comparing this too? what are you expecting exactly from a unique shooter? I think it's getting bombed because of unfair comparisons and biases. It's clear they know they have something here. Clear that they actually want to improve this to becoming a heck of a gem. Have some faith in what people are doing and the media you consume. I for one, currently loving this and cannot wait to replay it at it's utmost polish.

This game is actually great fun. Many people are going to skip this because its pretty janky in places and lacks some polish but despite all of that there is an incredibly competent and fun game here with some very decent mechanics. Look. 15 years ago people would have been all over a game like this. We loved little unique games from smaller teams with lower budgets that had charm and offered unique gameplay. This is one of those games. Playing this transports me back to that time when playing a game was just about fun. Now everyone is so overly critical of everything and wants every game to be AAA with AA pricing. I was in a firefight and a giant crab ran up behind the enemy and ripped him to pieces. I murdered the crab and made body armor out of his shell. In a shotgun fight i blew an enemies legs and arms off while wood from the walls splintered around us. Glass shattered. Its just got that old school awesome over the top fun and its what games have been missing for ages. This is a solid AA title with a very decent price and there is a lot of game here. It takes clear influence from the original Forrest game. It has nods to some of the classic FPS games with hidden areas and things to find through exploration. There is a whole bunch of Farcry in here as well as its own unique selling point of course - the dino's you eventually get to take control of and use as your own weapons and tools. The gun play is solid and satisfying with tactile weapon feedback and systems taken from more tactical shooters. Visually its really not bad. It's unity and its definitely AA but its absolutely fine and fits the gameplay. I'd love to see the game updated with DLSS 4 and FSR so that i can squeeze some more performance out of it. Not to say it runs badly on my machine (4K max settings 60fps) but there are some stutters here and there and i believe with some frame smoothing or DLSS upscaling i might be able to smooth that out. I'd also like to see a few rounds of polish and improvements on some of the systems. Everything works. Nothing is gamebreaking but just stuff like how the player camera can sometimes clip through things when you perform certain animations. The LOD culling is also a little noticable in places. At the start of the game you can see the higher detail rocks drawing in visibly as you move through the scene. That could be improved especially for higher end systems. All in all though this is definitely a pretty unique and fun game. If you love ambitious indie games especially ones that are trying to reach for the stars then this is worth playing. They have some rough edges here but nothing game breaking. You aren't going to play a game like this from a big publisher / developer any time soon. Games like this are fantastic and a real treat to experience. Personally i think the jank makes it way more charming. Like how a B-movie is so much better for horror. Jank in games like this give it texture and characer. Reminds me of when i first played the original Sniper Ghost Warrior, or the original Forrest game back when it first launched. Such amazing games that launched companies - but in an era when everyone was far less critical of things and was more interested in just having some fun with video games.
