Friends ask me how I could like a "Stardew knockoff" considering I've logged over 1,000+ hours into that game. I tell them its because Mistria is not Stardew. It is its own farming sim. One that refreshes the genre 10 years after Stardew launched. The low risk high reward format of this game keeps it so cozy and sucks the player in for hours. The customization of pretty much everything keeps it fresh and limitless. We aren't pigeon holed into the need for doing EVERYTHING, we can farm if we want, raise animals if we want. The game progresses regardless from you doing what YOU want to do. Key Things That I Love Most - Male animals drop their own unique products! This makes the color breeding a much more enticing challenge. - So much to forage. You feel compelled to explore and the item sprites are always stunning so you may just choose to leave forageables to decorate the landscape. - The magic brings a uniqueness to the game that serves a purpose other than for just cutscenes or plot points. - A range of crops to grow each season as well as being able to farm the forage items. - A diverse cast of bachelors and bachelorettes, but more importantly we have INTERESTING NPCs that don't feel like filler even after 200 hours of gameplay. (I have played it on other accounts in addition to this one.) Things I Hope To See (I have not accomplished everything added since the 4th Major Update) - Our own Saturday market stand. Maybe mid to late game. - More Festivals. - More crops. - Ponds or aquariums. - More than one pet. - More spells. I cannot wait to keep playing this game and discovering what else it has in store for us all.

This is warning to anyone planning on purchasing this game The SECOND you see a moth in the caves, catch it I spent 4 hours going through the mines trying to catch one as you'll need it for a quest Other than that the game is amazing especially if you like Stardew Valley

To fans of Stardew Valley: you are going to LOVE this game. Not because it's identical, but because playing this feels like playing Stardew for the first time. If you're tired of every other copy-paste farming sim, this is the game for you! I will list some pros and cons, but I'm honestly hard-pressed to find anything wrong with it. It has a LOT of quality of life changes that most of us have been dying for while playing other games. Fields of Mistria is undoubtedly a labor of love that is truly inspiring. These comments may contain gameplay (not story) spoilers. PROS (From broad to specific) -The town of Mistria is a utopia. If you like games with tension and conflict, this isn't the game for you. The townspeople are incredibly kind, there is no Big Bad (that I have seen so far), you are just there to help and live your life. I'm putting this with the positives, because I came to this game looking for a peaceful and cozy experience that still challenged me a bit, and that's exactly what I got! -The sound design is lovely. I don't know how to describe it but every sound choice is incredibly nostalgic, and definitely doesn't feel like it's coming from a modern speaker in the best way possible. -The NPCs and dialogue are so dynamic and interesting! You can talk to people multiple times a day and they all have something specific and interesting to say. -The accessibility options are very helpful! -The character customization is unbeatable, especially for a pixel-art related game. Plus the choice of pronouns is incredibly inclusive! -The menu is so easy to navigate, and super helpful. You can see all of the information you could ever need just by hitting the pause button. -There are magic spells??! -The museum and shops are ALWAYS open. Your plans don't fall through just because it's too late, or it's a holiday. -You can jump, and swim in water! For some reason that is super uncommon in this genre. -The leveling systems for yourself, the town, and your skills are all so unique and rewarding. -Money is somewhat easier to get- but the hard part is figuring out what to spend it on when there are so many options that are all promising! -You can call animals inside with a bell on the coop/barn at any time. -The animation is also very dynamic, even just watching my chickens waddle around brings me so much joy. -The rare color variations for breeding farm animals is such an interesting touch that I love so much, and I haven't seen that mechanic before! -There's bug catching and diving spots! -Theres always something fun happening in Mistria. Events are common and they don't disrupt your day if you're not interested. CONS: -Sometimes my movement across the screen gets a little jittery and hurts my eyes. That is almost definitely a problem with my PC being slow lately, but it's worth noting that it's possible. -The crafting taking time needs some getting used to. All of that being said, this is absolutely one of my new favorite games. I have over 1,000 hours in Stardew across multiple devices, and this game is absolutely on par with it. Love and care went into this game, and you can tell everything was made for a smooth, cozy, and fun experience for the player. Big thank you to the developers for helping me find such a therapeutic and wholesome game to spend my free time playing!

I have over 1.6k hours in Stardew and 100% perfected it, so when this game was announced, I was over the moon and picked it up on Day One. Now that I've played it for over 100hrs, I can truly say that this has surpassed Stardew for me. The gameplay is unique enough where you don’t think it’s “Yet another Stardew Valley clone”, like so many farming simulators are. If anything, I’d say it’s more in tune with early Harvest Moon whimsicality albeit more polished with a beautiful Shoujo-esque art style. The characters are fun, quirky and are actually worth talking to every day, the aesthetics are phenomenal, the mechanics and story so far are stellar. You can actually hear the impact you have around town through the words of the community, which is a rarity in these games, I’ve even had actual belly-laughing moments while talking to some of them! The mining (which I usually loathe in these games) is surprisingly enjoyable and with its RPG elements and satisfying reward system, it’s a breath of fresh air that really adds to the game’s individuality. Dare I say that I... *yearn* for the mines? The devs are always improving and it’s clear how passionate they are about both their game and the feedback from their audience. While I do wish the patch cycles were a bit shorter, I’d still take a 3–4 month cycle over half-hearted, lazy updates just to keep players quiet. Before Update 3, I actually skipped Update 2 so I had more content to go through and I'm so glad I did, I'm having such a blast with it. I recently read a critique against Mistria's environment is more of a utopia where everyone is kind to one another and I asked myself: "What is wrong with that?" I actually enjoy how easygoing the characters are, not everything needs to be all doom and gloom all the time. If I want a "gritter" farming sim, I'll go to my old pal Stardew Valley. Sometimes I just want to kick back with my steam deck and farm the day away. I genuinely have nothing negative to say (which, again, is rare for early access titles) and I can't wait for marriage and children to be a part of it. Judging by how the team have implement other features, I know they'll knock it out of the park once is added into the game. I love this game so much, it's become my new favourite cozy farming simulator. ♡ Now excuse me, Caldarus is waiting for me! (˶˃ ᵕ ˂˶) ♡♡♡ (or March... orrr Celine... maybe Reina, I'm not sure yet...)

This review is going to be quite a bit more critical than most I've read through, so I'm first going to say that I do really enjoy what the game has to offer so far. My overall rating as a full game would be about an 8/10, and that's without being complete. Considering its EA state, 9/10 is probably more appropriate for me. At the time of writing, I've played through the middle of year two summer and the last major update was the March 2025 update, so the review may be out of date if you're reading in the future. I'm going to split this review up into sections mostly based off skills, with a select few other sections for relationships/music/art/etc. Without further ado, let's get into the review. Relationships/Socialization - 9/10 Going into the game, I had heard the most about how good the socialization is in this game. And I think it's safe to say that it (mostly) lives up to that. The most significant improvement over a game like Stardew Valley is how often the other villagers talk to each other. It's most noticeable during Friday Night at the Inn, which has groups that have ongoing storylines that change periodically as to not get stale. But even outside of that, if you see two or more NPCs next to each other, you'll often find them talking to each other already. It's a really nice touch that makes the world feel more lived in and more like an actual town. Outside of group conversations, NPCs will commonly talk about things that you're currently doing like quests or about items you've recently donated to the museum. All in all, nothing but great things to say about regular socialization Where I feel FoM suffers a little is actually in the set scenes. Currently the heart events only exist for romanceable NPCs, and they feel a little lacking. Considering festival spoiler Festival of Stars has explicit romantic implications that unlocks at 4 hearts, there's shockingly little romantic progression/implications in most of the six heart cutscenes. Outside of heart events, the 2 of 3 festivals also are a bit underwhelming. The Animal Festival is quite good and feels like an actual event, while the other are very flat. Farming - 8/10 Satisfying in the same way that Stardew Valley is mostly. Item pickup needs to be quicker and a little wider. Overall, but particularly noticeable in farming once you get a particular skill later. Crop prices could use some balance. As it stands, it's always better to go for the regrowable crops. They're so much better it's somewhat ridiculous, both in profit and effort. There's eventual automation to help grow larger crop fields, but they're frankly somewhat bad in the current update. Late game spoiler: And the sprinklers cover a 5x5 area bizarrely. Why is this not 6x6 to match with gold tools? Hopefully this is addressed in a future update, along with more permanent sprinklers. Fishing - 6/10 Very little to say, just that I find it lackluster and just a time filler. It's fishing in the same vein as Animal Crossing, which isn't my cup of tea. But some might prefer this to an actual minigame like Stardew has. Mechanically, it uses too much energy and the skill levels up way too slow. This is the only skill I don't have currently maxed out, and I've caught everything needed except Fall and Winter Legendary Fish . Fish either need to be more useful or the skill should level up significantly faster. Archaeology - 7/10 It's fine. See a bump, dig it up. Some RNG here, but I've managed to complete every set expect for the Ritual Set without much issue. Very little value after completing museum though. Cooking - 8/10 First off, it's actually useful. Which is compared to Stardew Valley. My problem with it is exactly that though, in it's current iteration it's simply too useful. The biggest offender here being a skill unlocked later that allows you to cook loved gifts . It alone completely removes any incentive to actually use the gift system for relationship progression. A simple fix would be one that already exists for mana food , just lock it to higher tier recipes. When the most profitable thing you can do is grow and cook a single ingredient regrowable crop, that shouldn't also be the best way to recover energy and cheese the relationship system. Ranching - 8/10 The animals are adorable, but a bit of a pain. The game wants to encourage you to breed for higher tier animals, but doing so almost demands getting rid of your lower tier ones periodically, which restricts how many animal products you get. Additionally, feeding them is a pain without dedicating crop fields for them. Just let us build a silo. A late game problem, eventually animals only produce golden prouducts , which aren't interchangeable with base products. Not a big deal for me currently, but could eventually be. Woodcrafting - 8/10 A ton of cute stuff to craft. But the trees need to drop way more wood from the start. It's constantly a pressure point throughout story progression. [To be finished later]
