I’m a huge fan of the entire game series—the creators are absolute wizards! Thank you; you get completely immersed in these fairytale worlds, wandering through them in a meditative, dreamlike state. I do feel like there could be a few more characters, though—a bit more life.
A classic Myst-style game with complicated but solvable puzzles. Plenty of places to explore, and every puzzle solution gives you more to explore. As complex as it is, it seems designed so that you can't undo anything you needed to move further, and you can't get yourself in a situation you can't get out of. Very smooth operation on a MacBook Air M5.
Well worth the time it takes to understand what your goals are and how to acquire the tools to solve the puzzles. I played in VR and it was very smooth and visually complete. I went to a walkthrough to solve one puzzle but the rest were doable in a reasonable amount of time. Unique and satisfying game with a great storyline and spectacular ending.
This game has beautiful engaging scenery as do all of Cyans games. The puzzles are well thought out and while some people may complain of how much back-and-forth you have to do to solve the puzzles; I am old-school, way back to the original Myst days so I all of that doesn't bother me at all. I think for any Cyan fan, this game should be in your library. My ONLY complaint, which I find is a "trend" in most games today, is that that Cyan decided to go with a depressing, masters/slave story to drive the narrative of the game. Why? We deal with this in real life all the time, and the narrative is much overdone these days. Why do we also have to have that in a game as the driving factor? We play these to ESCAPE real life...
This game is probably one of the weaker ones from Cyan but I still enjoyed it quite a bit. It definitely has that amazing intriguing world that Cyan is know for that make you want to see more of it. The lore building lack some from what you might normally expect. Also the puzzles are a simpler affair than it normal for Cyan. They tend to be masters at making you unpack the world and lore to gain the understanding to know how to solve things. This time there really isnt a ton of that and several can just be trial and errored through. They do still manage to be diegetic to the world they exist in and not just arbitrary puzzles for puzzles sake slapped into a world purely for game play, but the depth of understanding of the world required is not as significant as many other entries from Cyan. The Narrative is interesting, but lacks pacing and progression. There is not a lot of narrative development along the way, mostly just a lore dump at the end that explains things and character along the way dropping cryptic messages to remind there is narrative intrigue here instead of letting those clues be discovered organically through the gameplay. Overall it still have an amazingly immersive world and diegetic puzzles that Cyan is know for. Is sacrifice some on the depth of the puzzles and narrative though from other game in their lexicon.
