An interesting tangent from the main line series of Game of Thrones. If you are a die hard fan and want some lore dump, this is a great game. If you are a fan of the TellTale series of games, it's decent, but since it's a one shot series it's not as groundbreaking as some of the other stories told.

I know this game is no longer available — at least not on Steam — but I still wanted to share my thoughts. Just a heads-up: even if it ever does make a return, it ends on a cliffhanger that will sadly never be resolved. I watched Game of Thrones, though I never made it all the way through. I mean, how could I not start? There are dragons! Even better, this game features the voice of female Hawke from Dragon Age — well, technically just in an extremely minor background role — but still, Dragon Age! The writing overall is strong and engaging, and it fits seamlessly into the twisted, politically charged world of Westeros. What really stood out to me were the characters. The experience felt immersive — you're not just watching events unfold; you are the character, the typical Telltale magic. The game captures the atmosphere of the show remarkably well, and the plot is emotionally charged throughout. They even recreated an opening sequence in the iconic Game of Thrones style, which was a fantastic touch. If you somehow get here without having watched Game of Thrones before, maybe brace yourself? Brutal things happen, characters die, and you'll find yourself staring at the screen, stunned, trying to take it all in. Like most Telltale titles, the game shines with its distinctive art style, powerful soundtrack, and compelling narrative. The story itself will always spark debate, but maybe that's the point. Your character has a fate they can't avoid — but how they reach that end, the decisions they make, and the people they meet along the way — that's what really matters. Some of those people may fade from memory, but others will leave a mark, just like in real life, just like you might on others and they on you.

Idiotically, the writers decided to end every single questline with a nasty cliffhanger... but hey, what is in there is actually solid so still worth a play.

This game is especially fun to play with GOT fans, probably because it is the only GOT game that is (or probably ever will be) worth anything. The writing here is solid and engaging, and feels organically woven into Westeros' complex and treacherous political situation. Be warned, however, that this game ends on a cliffhanger that will never, ever get resolved anywhere but in fan fiction.

I really wish there had been a follow up to this game. It ends without you ever learning what happens. I need closure.
