Weirdly good game i just keep playing it and i found it to be a bit addicting. Some things to warn about is jumping may give you motion sickness which i had for a good bit of during the game. Also note that it's very grindy game if you want to 100% like i did. I can still appricate the game for it artstyle and how it dosen't really take itself too seriously. Tho i won't fully recommend it if you have a couple of bucks to waste do it on a sale and this isn't exactly that bad of a choice to waste your money on.

Actually deeply impressed with this game. With a meme premise it feels like anything but with it's art design, additional characters, sparse lore implications, and uncanny early PC game vibe. I really appreciate that they offer alt music tracks to avoid repetition, and the hide and seek gameplay is kind of fun. The issue comes in doing multiple playthroughs for completion purposes as 50 gnomes captured is a TALL ask that wears away the charm fast. Certainly not worth 100%, but a few playthroughs to experience each knights playthrough.

Gnomes and Knights, developed and published by Terletski Games, presents itself as a gentle fantasy strategy experience, but its appeal lies in how thoughtfully it balances coziness with meaningful decision-making. The premise is imaginative without being grandiose—players oversee small communities of gnomes who must build, harvest, explore, and defend their homes with the help of honorable knights. Instead of leaning into epic warfare or sprawling kingdoms, the game focuses on the intimate scale of village life, where every resource gathered, structure placed, and ally recruited contributes to a growing sense of stewardship. The result feels like a playable storybook that values curiosity and care just as much as tactical thinking. The core gameplay loop revolves around settlement development, and Terletski Games ensures that progression feels gradual and organic. Gnomes must be assigned tasks, infrastructure must be expanded, and the surrounding land must be shaped into something sustainable. Because resources are limited and threats slowly increase, players must prioritize—should they reinforce defenses, explore new territories, or invest in production to prepare for later challenges? These choices never feel overwhelming thanks to clear feedback systems and an intuitive interface, but they still carry weight. The pleasure of the game comes not from racing toward a distant victory condition but from slowly transforming a fragile outpost into a thriving, interdependent community. Combat serves as a complementary system rather than the central focus, and this restraint makes it more impactful when conflict does occur. Knights are not faceless units but valued protectors, and players must position them thoughtfully, equip them properly, and understand how different enemy types behave. Battles emphasize preparation over improvisation—defensive placement, resource stockpiling, and deliberate upgrade paths determine success more than quick reflexes. The pacing ensures encounters feel exciting rather than exhausting, delivering bursts of tension that highlight how much effort has gone into nurturing the settlement. When a defensive line holds or a knight survives against the odds, it reinforces the emotional investment players already have in their world. What makes the experience especially memorable is the game’s visual and tonal identity. Gnomes and Knights embraces a whimsical, handcrafted aesthetic built around vibrant colors, rounded geometry, and playful character designs. Villages feel alive not because of technical complexity but because of animation flourishes—gnomes chatting, carrying loads, tending to gardens, knights practicing with training dummies, wildlife wandering through forests. These visual details reward observation and create an emotional relationship between players and their settlements. The soundtrack supports this atmosphere beautifully, blending gentle fantasy melodies with more energetic themes during danger, helping the game transition smoothly between cozy planning and spirited defense. Progression reinforces long-term engagement without demanding endless grinding. As players advance, they unlock new building types, unit variations, upgrades, and terrain opportunities that reshape future strategies. Replayability emerges naturally—different map conditions, settlement layouts, and resource distributions encourage experimentation rather than repetition. The game respects player agency, allowing them to approach challenges in different ways rather than pushing them toward a single optimal path. Even after completing major objectives, the world remains enjoyable to inhabit, inviting creative play rather than pushing toward abrupt endings. However, its deliberate gentleness may not satisfy everyone. Players who crave deep simulation, large-scale conquest, or punishing strategy mechanics may find the game too relaxed or structurally simple. Its pacing prioritizes reflection and planning over constant stimulation, and the learning curve is designed to welcome rather than test. Occasional balancing issues, minor AI unpredictability, or interface features that could benefit from refinement are present, but they rarely disrupt the experience. Instead, they reflect the game’s identity as a passion-driven indie project focused on charm and accessibility rather than competitive intensity. Ultimately, Gnomes and Knights succeeds because it understands that strategy can be comforting instead of stressful. Terletski Games has created a game that invites players to care, observe, and build at a human scale—where victories feel personal and progress feels earned through attention rather than aggression. It delivers a fantasy world that is not heroic by default but becomes heroic because of the effort players invest in it. For fans of settlement builders with personality, tactical elements that enhance rather than overshadow city life, and games that value atmosphere as much as mechanics, Gnomes and Knights offers a warm and rewarding experience. It proves that small worlds can still hold grand adventures, especially when approached with imagination and heart. Rating: 7/10
