Only played a bit less than 10 hours, but I've been having a blast most of that time. It's far better than the old demo I played some time ago, way closer to the original game than I thought it'd be (though there are some new things, which I won't spoil here) The lockpicking minigame is terrible though, wish they'd just left things as-is there. Tech-wise it's not the best thing ever made (it has some hitching when saving, and sometimes when you enter a new area, good old UE) but it runs OK in my machine. Overall, I'd recommend it if you like the original, it's not a bad remake.

Fans don't need to worry, you'll enjoy it. For non-fans, please note that this is an old school RPG that has influenced many other games (such as The Witcher). Do not expect the same copy-paste lazy and boring game mechanics designed to increase play time artificially. The game world is alive like no other game and there will be consequences to your actions, positive or not, immediate or not. You start the game as a nobody, being good at almost nothing (not even holding a sword). Play and see what happens, think for yourself, make your own choices and at some point stop and compare how far you've come along. Compare the progression you've experienced with other games. I challenge you to :) (oh, and save often... the game does not simplify itself for you, YOU have to rise to the challenge). I can't wait to see new Gothic players on YT experience how life-like the world is and see them realize how insultingly lazy and non-immersive chore-fest most of the games in the past decade+ have been. I mean it: do not expect this game to be like what we've been used to in the last 15+ years. There are some optimizations quirks, but nothing that cannot be improved. I assume the stutter experienced in the new game cutscene is due to shader compilation as I only had it for a few seconds. I attached the PC specs but they don't include that I played on 4k. I don't mind DLSS so I enabled it to get to 120 (screen's at 120Hz) from 70-90, noticed nothing wrong visually because of it. HDR worked nicely as well. The only bug I had was when I had to reload an autosave (I died) and the NPC that was supposed to take me to the New Camp was stuck on a bench (he was standing straight with his feet inside the bench and could not move -- that's how he spawned). The autosave that I loaded was triggered immediately after I asked to be taken to the New Camp, might or might not be relevant ;) Game just released, please give some time for the devs to optimize and fix bugs; software issues can 100% be fixed. I am hopeful since they've proven to be faithful to the main game. Thank you devs and I hope this comment will age nicely as you move on to Gothic 2 and 3. ... now if only Bethesda had some self respect...

Never played Gothic, never even heard of this game. Randomly wishlisted it after seeing it on a yt vid. 1hr in and I have to say, looks really intriguing. I like the newbie starting point and having to work your way up without the game holding your hand. Great sense of progression! Saw a few reviews regarding the graphics. Disabled Nvidia reflex and kept frame gen off. DLSS on quality. The graphics are super CRISP and look super appealing. Game runs smooth as butter so no complaints there. Gothic has gained a new fan! Looking forward to the journey! Only one complain though, why in the world do you not have controller customization? Not letting players remap buttons should be a crime.

F to my brothers and sisters who didn't make it to see Gothic 1 get remade 20 years later. Finally, a game that actually deserves a remake and is more than 5-7 years old at that. Respect to the devs for listening to the player fanbase and making it look way better than the playable teaser. The atmosphere, the armors and even the meatbugs look faithful to the original. I hope this will be a success so they could remake Gothic 2 & 3!
