I've finished the hardest difficulty with some different builds, overall a really good game. Should you buy it? YES. Give it a shot Don't let my hours on record fool you, since i played like 30 hours offline while i was traveling At the time I'm writing this, it lacks some QoL features like selling your own relics, refreshing shops and selecting pre-game buffs (stones) Selling relics is important since some relics downside can literally shut down certain builds, sometimes I dont even have a choice to refuse relics, literally couldnt crit when my build revolves around crits. Refreshing shop with run currency (black blood) would be nice since you often have excess amount of currency, and shop often sells stuff that you dont really need like keys, and shield (and potion if you're really good), priotizing relics is better in my opinion. I dont exactly know how im supposed to treat Stones, since you could only store 5 Stones permanently without getting converted to uhhh.. lesser stones? This severely future builds since i can't keep specific stones for specific builds, i had to settle with most general crit rate & crit dmg build. I cant switch to pure atk build, combo atk build or tank build since the game automatically get rids of every Stones except the 5 Stones you've chosen. Either overhaul the Stone system or just make a method to store Stones without losing it permanently, perhaps disabling its buffs

A pretty good game for an early access one, so here are a few good and bad things about it: Goods: - World building gives out massive Made in Abyss vibe, which is amusing. - Have "break the pot" kind of stuff from Zelda games, which is relaxing in a way. - Characters have unique kits and level up branches. I'm sure devs will port more characters from their first game to this one over time, cannot wait to try them all. - Roguelike system is niche (map generation, relics/artifacts, spirits), same as characters, artifacts will be ported here soon. - Combat is literally the best thing so far: real time, interactive between your abilities and enemies'. - Permanent upgrades are generally good: runes are your "equipment" and they are random based, while stat-upgrades are farming based and linear. - Beautiful pixel graphic. I gotta say, artistically this game is a gem of pixel on it own! - Nice and pleasant songs and themes. Very engaging choice of sounds. - Balanced difficulty, might lean on hard/DS side a bit: enemies' and bosses' attack patterns aren't simple but observable and learnable. Bads: - Game bugs (freeze character a bit when using active trait on cooldown, soft lock in some bosses scenarios which render them invincible, or invisible blocks that keep you in place... still counting and reporting them now). - It would be nice if players can have their own chest to store excessive runes which were forged from blacksmith, so players can switch them from time to time for different characters and builds. - Movement and attack inputs might be a bit lagging for real time action combat, I'm already adapted to it, but this can be a problem for new players. - Little content currently (lore, characters, artifacts, spirits' abilities, upgrades, runes' stats), might not scratch enough itch or persuade players to spend more time once they maxed out all permanent upgrades and clear all present stages. But hey, it is an early access game, so this might not be a problem in the end! I might update this review from time to time after each major update patches.

This game is a seriously happy surprise. The three characters all play totally differently, and despite the fact the game really only has four directions and two buttons, it gets a ton of strategic depth as you level up your ability, find new artifacts, and learn how to beat down enemies. The quickest way to imagine it: Necrodancer but you don't need to worry about the beat. Move as you need, dodge as you can, beat down as you wish. The abilities change things up quite a bit: a mage setting up explosions, a monk prepping a Yatyatatatatata attack, a knight getting bleed stacks in. And then you find a weapon that makes it so every attack you do does double damage... but to a random enemy in the room, so you go hide and beat on the golem while trying to dodge its attacks and kill everyone but him by luck. Or you get the Beat totem, a totem that has 500hp, and every hit you do to it hits every enemy in the room. Just gotta be careful to not break it, or it comes back with much less hp. Or maybe you find a hive of bees that go along with your attacks. There's a ton in here to find and upgrade, and I've barely scratched the surface. Highly recommended even at the early access stage, I can't wait to see where it goes with development.

I played the demo for about 2 hours and bought the game tonight so my play time is over what it shows here. It's a bit challenging and you need to learn the enemy attack patterns. The boss fights are satisfying and challenging. I saw some comments before in the discussion about it being too hard. TOTALLY DISAGREE. Those people are smooth brains. The difficulty is perfect. Please don't make it easier!!! Once you get used to the controls and fly around the map kicking ass, you feel like a boss. This is a very solid game with good mechanics. At the price, it's a steal.
