Halftime Heroes is a Bullet Heaven/Survivors game with some interesting mechanics and customisation across the board. I've had quite a bit of fun despite some of the elements being rather bland, mostly sound effects/graphics, but at it's core the gameplay is satisfying, although rather easy. The music is alright. The game has 3 different type of permanent shops (one of those which are 3 additional stages), you can loot items, you can customise your character (graphically and mechanically) and you can combo spells into ultimates. Now, I won't say the game is perfect, nor is it the best of it's genre, but especially considering it's super low price, I was expecting a lot less. The gameplay is fluid at a stable 60 FPS, I've had 1 single drop in FPS and it lasted a few seconds, even with hundreds of spells at once on the screen. Also for some reasons, sometimes assigning stats to my character in-game before assigning skill points wouldn't save the stats when resuming the game, but reassigning them worked fine. Weird bug. Another thing, the balance is all over the place. The first 50 waves are a stomp and then the game becomes much harder. Some ultimates are weak, some are utterly broken. Ultimate Booster gives 300 stats+150 stats every times you get it again (you start with around 6 stats) and Ki Strike literally one shots anything including bosses every 0.5 or 1 seconds. All in all, Halftime Heroes was enjoyable to me and with the price in mind, (I got it for around $1), it was fun!

A cute 3D version of Vampire Survivors. If you're an achievement hunter, the achievements are way too easy. If you're here for the actual game, it's an enjoyable experience.

If I'm not mistaken, Halftime Heroes was the first proper 3D attempt at a bullet heaven title, at least on Steam. Indeed, it's hard to lose the feeling that most of the models in the game feel stock assets, or at least fairly generic. Yet this title offers a satisfying progression, some really satisfying weaponry, and even dice-throwing and other minigames for fancy RPG-esque loot to break up the pace. It's also extremely customizeable in terms of game speed, amount of enemies and so on. There's a bit of a difficulty spike going to later stages and it's hardly the most original game on the market, but Halftime Heroes looks good, it's fun and there's a ton of player agency. And it's still getting updated, so surely there's more to come as well! Bullet Heaven Fandom review #4. This game is amazing. Let's start with the good! The dev is actively listening to feedback, watching streams, giving keys and generally being respectful and friendly. The game is amazing, considering it released only a month ago at the time of this review, there's already been numerous changes that makes it so much more fun to play. The characters feel different to play because of builds that emerge from their special perks! There's a leader-board! The spell effects are nicely portrayed and are easy to recognize and differentiate. There's meta progression in the form of unlocks you buy with "gold" you earn from killing enemies. The mediocre! Fps drops are happening at times with a lot of fireballs and tornadoes, however the dev has stated he will look into optimizing the game further AND considering this game is in early access, it's actually performing at 45+ fps most of the time for me on a 1440p resolution. Chests are sometimes hidden behind graphics and orbs gets stuck on props, however this is certainly something the dev will look into. The bad You'll lose your friends and your job after getting addicted to this game.

Fun but needs a UI/UX/Content pass After playing a bunch of Vampire Survivor (lets be real this is the same type of game) I enjoy this a lot but it needs a few passes to be a great little experience. I'll just list a few things to keep this from being long. [List] [*] Can be hard to see what happening because the skills are too busy [*] Some of the UI, like the XP bar, go past the boundaries and needs to be fixed [*] No real sense of spell progression. Vamprie Survivor will unlock additional spells/combos depending on how you play [*] Some level upgrades are either doubled up too often, or will give you upgrades for spells you do not have [*] The RNG system for getting boss upgrades is weird and doesnt feel rewarding Conclusion Lets keep it 💯- this game either copies or takes a lot of inspiration from Vampire Savior, and thats ok. Copy the stuff that makes the game addicting, and throw in more variety and clean up the bugs and this game is a 100% recommend. For price, content, and launch state I'd give it a 7/10 - fun format and experience. Tighten it up and we're looking at a winner.
