Played this game in early access and enjoyed it, so I was excited to see 1.0 release! I think a lot of the negative review are regarding its multiplayer function, or lack thereof. However, as someone who mainly plays singleplayer games, I enjoyed this a lot. The comprehensive tutorial is also completely optional and easy to ignore. I found it helpful since I like a little bit of direction in my sandbox games. Though overall I'd say this game has a laid-back, easy vibe, there is lots of grinding, especially as the game progresses, so if you're not into that, I'd say maybe pass on this one. I don't normally review, but when I saw the reviews were mixed for 1.0, I wanted to give a little shoutout to a game that I thoroughly enjoyed and plan to continue playing.

So, it's not a bad game. Good concept in the builder genre and a lot to do. I liked it for the time that I played it. Unfortunately, it tends to get really grindy toward the end game. I finally got bogged down to much to want to continue. I might return to it when it gets out of EA, hopefully with some quality of life improvements.

Liked it a lot, way more to do and to explore then I intially anticipated. But, the 'late game' needs some work. The concept of this game is: Expand your 'village', except more settlers, satisfy their needs, expand, unlock new buildings and stats via the tech tree. But here comes the problem late game: Normally, you asign settlers on tasks so they do them for you, otherwise it takes a loongg time. But, without giving away to much, there is no way to use settlers for this late-game task, and you have to do it yourself. And there seems to be a way for you to eventually asign settlers, but before being able to do it, you need to GRIND a LOT. Which is kind a weird in my opinion, because thus far there was barely any grinding involved in this game, which I appreciate cause I don't like grinding at all. Also, the end game is a bit unexpected and surprising, and if you ask me, a bit out of order as well. There was still a lot I could do and I could discover (still an island I wasn't able to reach), but I could still 'finish' the game. I hope they do some balance fixing (especially for late game) , maybe expand the tech tree a little, and I have a pretty decent PC, but I ran into some framedrops and lag later on in the game, which I feel is not really because of my PC, but more so because the game isn't really optimised yet.

Cozy "survival" community builder; it's slightly more complicated than what I'd truly consider casual, but there is no fail state. Hungry citizens just work a fraction of the time, but you don't lose them. Progression is based on getting new materials, this is not at all trivial and you'll have to talk to NPCs to get hints to where to find them. There are complex production lines, sometimes with 4-5 steps, and citizens can be assigned to specific jobs - all in all the management part works very well. There is a research tree that unlocks new items and buildings, and clear progression. There are very few things I think could be done better, for example having a better overview of what is working and what is stuck on inputs, or the industrialization which kinda pulls me out of the cozy vibe - not due to the machinery, but rather the density and expanse of cranes, generators etc. Also some materials require travelling to another island or diving, and for some material lists it can be a lot of time spent running back and forth to double check what you need for the next step. Overall I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone looking for a fairly laid-back game to play to wind down, that still gives you goals you can work toward.

This game is a lot of fun. There are a plenty of materials and products to manufacture. I definitely recommend it, with a few caveats. 1. Part of the fun of these types of games is the opportunity to create a settlement that reflects your own tastes. Havendock restricts player creativity by providing a pre-planned footprint for the settlement. I would prefer if I could place platforms, raised platforms, docks, bridges, and boathouses where I want them to be, rather than where the game insists that they must be. If the developer insists on providing blueprints for the player to follow, there needs to be more variety. Because I've started over twice and I'm already bored with the existing layout. 2. The game becomes tedious once islands become available. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the sense of exploration and discovery. However, I do not like is that certain industries are restricted to specific islands. It's fussy and annoying mechanic. Especially since I can't assign settlers to live and work on those islands in order to keep up production. 3. Likewise, transportation is fussy. There are boats. However, settlers don't seem to use the boats. The player is the one who has to go back and forth to set up production. There are birds that can handle the logistics, I believe. Yet, once again, I would like to assign settlers to live on the outer islands and to ferry items back and forth by boat. Those are my main concerns about the game. Otherwise, I've been having a lot of fun setting up production chains and growing my settlement. The game runs well, the art style is endearing, and I love, love, love the underwater elements. The developer has a winner on their hands. It can be even better with additional worlds and another look at how the islands could better integrate with the home base. Thank you for taking the time to make a very enjoyable game. Oh, and thank you for adding a pooch! :D
