Great game. I like it even more than OG Hell Let Loose. Not really sure why it got so much hate. I read through some negative comments and I don't even partially agree with them. Every gun is viable. There is very little difference in TTK across weapons. Even the pistol can one shot in the head or two shot the body. Anyone complaining about that in these reviews - what game are they even playing? I don't get it. I do like the NVA assault rifle iron sights more, but I am now used to the M16, so it doesn't bother me. Bugs have been minimal. Fell through the map a single time when spawning on an OP against a rock. There is this thin bamboo fence that appears in a couple maps that for some reason blocks bullets. Other than that, this has been pretty much what I expected and is a lot of fun.
I played 300-500 hours of Squad Lead in the original HLL. HLL Vietnam gives you a fresh style of combat and a different "on the edge" feeling, due to the foliage/swimming and other new mechanics/vehicles. Sure the game does have the bugs stated, yet we all know the flow of PC gaming when a game is launched. To be fair to Team17, when they picked up the IP of HLL, they had to build on top of someone else's foundations which is not a simple thing to do. Its why many games are shelved and not remade or optimised due to the lack of previous developers who know that foundation that was previously created. (This can be compared to real life buildings in history) So they made this, to change the pace and create their "from scratch" version of HLL. So they can continue to adapt it to the fullest and allow the game to grow at a proper pace. Instead of going back into the "bag of wires" and unravelling someone else's coding to give you guys the end product. Just give the game some time to cook. If you are looking for the same memories and feelings HLL gave/gives you. Then hop in a squad and dig in. This is still a hoot and I prefer the mechanics in this HLL compared to 1. Give it time, be a fan not a hater. Appreciate that a plan never goes to plan, we learn to adapt and overcome our mistakes/issues. GL HF - See you on the battlefield playas!
Played both playtests and a ton of HLL before this. This release is a large improvement over the playtests. Runs great, servers are full, cooperative players. Same HLL you know and love with new maps textures weapons and features. Well worth it. If you play it like a battlefield game you are going to have a bad time. Dont listen to negative reviews from players with less than an hour. DLSS works great framerate and my pc has no issues Edit: 20 hrs later and i have the same things to say. Of course there are some issues but the devs are already on it. If you loved the old HLL this is the same game with new features, the gun play is fun. the war like feel is there. the team coordination is still my favorite part. I now have more than 5 games as commander and really enjoy it. The true value of this game comes with working with your squads GO HOME GI
