might be one of the best games released the past couple of years the audio-visual-presentation is already pretty much a perfect score you can see the color-pallette and the art-style in the trailers and screen-shots but what realy brings this game to the next level is how sneaky and yet impactfull 3D-effects and lighting are used the ambience is unreal also while the setting seemingly is (again) more centered around demons and hell, frankly there is a lot of cosmic horror and Lovecraft to be found also then there is OST which is spot on. music is always hard to decribe: but look at the art-style and you can imagine the sound. it is heavy were it needs to be, it has hushed vocals where you don't expect em and size+range. loved every minute. even on reat starts. then there is the gameplay: it is kinda the first game just more and expanded systems. think top-down(ish) crpg or jrpg meets wizardry-like combat + some Diablo 1+2 talent, class and loot systems. you get quests from town-npcs or npcs in the wilds, check your destination on the overworld map, either explore outdoor maps or delve into dungeons to fight enemies, collect better and better gear and craft your killing machine. the options are again pretty open. 2-hand-berzerker-just-smash-everything or shaman-esque-smash-and-cast, it is here. then there is lore to be found, little enviromental detail everywhere the big fat NO-AI-logo at the start and so much more don't look at the low price: this is a must have about the only issues i found were on the more balance-oriented-side (melee-builds seem to outclass casters for quite a while) and some quest-bugs/glitches that i am sure will get fixed (looking at the first game's track-record). brilliant can't wait for part 3
Ever since I got first Hellslave on steam for free and got hopelessly hooked on it for few days I've been waiting for the second one. Now it's here and I'm happy to say it's improvement in pretty much every aspect and I've been loving it so far. It's great game made by tiny developer with no AI and is absolutely worth the price and deserving of far more clout than it gets. Some major improvements from the first game: - More tactical and fun combat with more options - Bigger and better maps with more freedom - More RPG elements and quests - Better itemisation - More dialogues and lore And same as the first one there's still amazing very stylish artwork and great soundtrack.
