I gave this game a try and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. As someone who's a fan of Sci-fi and the "dumb" dark humor, I have to say Squanch Games managed to fill the void in the game genre. High on life is Doom-like FPS game with platforming and a bit of explorations elements. What makes this game really unique is the comedy that is incorporated into it. Gameplay The combat is fun and each weapon is providing different kind of special abilities. The gun selection is rather small, but at least you get to utilize them all. The level design is linear for the most part, where you can do some exploration, platforming and collectibles in form of cards and currency, which can be used to upgrade your suit and guns. I wish there was more enemy variety, but the boss design makes up for the lack of it. Each boss fight is enjoyable and unique. The game runs pretty smooth with some bugs here and there and very rare crashes (from my experience) Story Despite the game being self aware and focused mainly on comedy aspect, the story is engaging and actually makes sense. Each gun and main characters bring in their own personality making this a fun and chaotic experience. Graphics From a visual standpoint the game is vibrant and colorful, the effects are clean and in general it looks pretty. Sound Design Voice acting is what really makes this game shine. Each guns is voiced by a different voice actor bringing in different vibes. The soundtracks are original, and they really fit the setting. Conclussion I grabbed this on sale with the DLC and I have to say it was worth it. If you're fan of Rick and Morty kind of humor you should give a try. My Personal rating: 7.5/10
this game is fun and funny- do not take it seriously. Simultaneously, if you are playing on normal or above, do not take it for a joke when it comes to fps action- you need to use cover and movement to survive some of the least likely encounters. If you take the combat for a joke, you will not be the one laughing last
