I just spent the entire day on this game, it's so weirdly wonderful. If you're a stupid idiot like me the games really helps with giving nudges towards words and it has. so. much. content. that it never really gets repetitive. But as I mentioned I am a stupid idiot so the story got low key confusing and convoluted at times. Low IQ girlies play with caution, but it's a really fun time.

This game is a bit like traversing an urban Jim Henson's Labyrinth with less whimsy and more gore (and less David Bowie, sadly). Only the urban legend inhabitants of this labyrinth don't conveniently speak English and they have a pretty flawed understanding of human limitations. Despite the game's store page going heavy on the 'Romance' designation, the romance in this game is pretty minimal and understated (but strangely wholesome). What it has more of is content -- you're unlikely to discern all of the language or find every possible scene, route, or ending in one playthrough. You won't know what the hell you're doing the grand majority of the time -- the game does very little to hold your hand and guide you outside of occasionally throwing you a bone with a word translation. Sometimes you need to act in order to get a good outcome, other times you need to do nothing -- you probably won't know until you've done the wrong thing and gotten killed. You'll likely get killed a lot , but the game lessens the frustration of this by taking you back to the exact scene you were in to try again. Sadly, the developer has apparently ceased producing their planned content for this game due to fan harassment. In a world where people don't act like savages to content creators with an online presence, this game would've gotten more love. Achievements and trading cards would've been a fun addition, but alas! All in all, this is a eerily cute game with many things to find and puzzle out. Have fun, try to stay intact, and be nice to Mr. Crawling! ♥

embarrassed to admit that i completed everything in the dictionary yet somehow severely misunderstood one very crucial word, Love . I don't know what that says about me exactly, but this game definitely made me think long and hard about how words shape the way we see things and how the way we see things shape the meaning of words. I had to sit down and reconsider what that word meant to me after playing through it...... It also- no joke. made me reconsider my biases towards the characters and how I see them differently after understanding what they were trying to say. I think there was a moment where they taught me two particular words Monster, and Human which made me feel bad because we were intruding into their space, it felt unfair to translate the words that way. We were the odd ones out, not them. This really made me think long and hard about the power of words and the meanings we ascribe to them. I don't know man, it's a silly monster chants of senaar but it unexpectedly made me think more about how language and communication form our day to day, how we give meaning to them and how differently we might understand or interpret things. The art is intentionally creepy, but the characters have all been loveable, sometimes silly, and all in all, everything in the world is very interesting. The way they interact with each other, and the social bonds and rules they form are so fascinating to see, and compare with how we do so ourselves. It's all in all a very good game with good puzzle elements, a good mix of story, horror and silliness, and it's easy to see that its been made with lots of care and love.

This game is REALLY freaking cool. I'm a big fan of horror and seeing the concept of "romance with horror men" absolutely pulled me in... But having that extra layer of needing to decipher and guess the language everyone is speaking makes this game so unique! The world you've ended up in feels even more foreign and disorienting when you're not quite sure if you've really understood what the people around you are trying to communicate. I found the game has a very fun, dark sense of humor, and I personally never got super startled or freaked out by the "scares" in the game. Don't take that to mean the game doesn't have a spooky, supernatural atmosphere! I loathe jump scares so I was glad this game didn't really employ them very much. There are a few puzzles in the game, outside of trying to fill your dictionary out, and a few quick time events. None of them are overly difficult to figure out and even if you mess up. The game is pretty forgiving of your mistakes which I appreciate. I will mention, this game isn't romance heavy. The big focus is on exploration, figuring out the language, and getting to know the characters you interact with. I've grown very fond of them, even the characters I was initially very wary of. I've unlocked a handful of endings at the time I'm reviewing this, but I still have many more to unlock. Of course, I made sure to get Mr. Crawling's specific ending because I adore him. <3 I would love some more romance scenes in the game but even so, the characters are all very likable. They have a strange sense of mortality that adds to the "dark humor" of the game. Edit: Quick edit, because I forgot to mention I played this game primarily on my Steam Deck! It ran great and it was nice to sit cuddled up on my couch while playing.
