Original game was stunning. This one is even more, worth playing in an OLED monitor for a full awesome experience. The only downside is that musics are broken... They would stop suddenly on cutscenes, exploration or combat, randomly, no other sound issues, sound keeps working, just the ongoing music goes off... Which is VERY bad for game ambience, as the OST is one of the best ever.

So I'm guilty of picking this game up because it was one of those highly touted PlayStation exclusives I'd hear people talk about that finally came to PC. I didn't expect much, and if I'm completely honest, I was assuming the game would be a bit basic. After 5 hours of benchmarking only for me to realize I put my gpu in the wrong slot, I finally played and let me tell you, I did not realize how sci-fi this story was. I mean, the wild robots roaming the world would've been my first hint, but as the story slowly unraveled, I am actually really glad I didn't get any spoilers before hand and was pleasantly surprised by how fun this story was. It's one of those concepts that is fun to imagine in some dystopian type of future that we wouldn't be around to experience. The world is beautiful to spend time in, especially in this remastered version. The combat was satisfying, actually surprising me how seamless taking down groups of robots with a bow could be while being able to craft ammo on the fly, and dodge incoming attacks easily enough (but not too easy). On top of all that, Aloy is a badass, climbing around quickly with ease, almost as if Lara Croft was as nimble as Faith Connors. In fact, my playthrough showed me how tentative I press WASD, since double tapping those gets her to combat roll. I rolled off a few more cliffs than I care to admit but that was user error. She holds her own in combat, competently taking down swarms of robots or the vain ambush attempt on her as she's gathering herbs for her medicine pouch. Oh, and she's quick to snap back with wit in conversation if needed. This was a delightful surprise I'm thankful I played. Horizon Forbidden West is on my wishlist and I'm eager to play it at some point. Backlog Games Beaten 2025 45/50

Welp, I think this easily takes the prize for the least necessary remaster ever made. But that aside, what are you actually gonna get if you upgrade? Well, better graphics (duh), a heap of very welcome QoL upgrades (thank God for the ability to disable the ugly-аss helmets!), and the killer feature is all the re-animated dialogue scenes. That was always the biggest blight on the otherwise gorgeous game, and now it's finally not hurting the eyes. I'd say the quality of them is just sliiightly below Frozen Wilds now, which is a win in my book. Whether or not all of that is worth the asking price is open for discussion.

Something you can actually call a remaster (at least graphically), it is noticeable, and the dialogues now feel better than before since the characters feel a little bit more alive.
