Absolutely yes, although only for a weird niche set of us - Horripilant isn't going to appeal to the masses. It's an idler, it's a clicker, it's a 'numbers-go-up' game, it's also a puzzler and an interesting philosophical wonder as well. I'm not usually one to get in to clicker games like this but the price was right and the aesthetic appealed to me. Having only played the Gnorp clicker game (which is a fun thing itself, gotta say), I kinda sorta knew what I was getting in to, but truly just learned as I played. Horripilant is intuitive that way and unfolds itself nicely in way that keeps the player engaged. Part of my joy of playing Horripilant was the discovery involved, so I feel I'd cheat the reader out of the experience by sharing too much more than what is seen at face value. So, the surface-level premise is: you're in a dungeon, go down and explore. As things are revealed, you'll want to follow that revelation until you can follow it no further. Get materials, get better skills, go further down the dungeon. There's a lot of very bizarre imagry here. The art and general direction is something David Cronenberg would be pleased with. The puzzles, in some cases, are fairly straightforward to solve. Other puzzles could use a bit more clarity in understanding due to the general overall weirdness of this game. But the biggest reason that I've felt compelled to write a positive review for this game is after I have completed the story. Upon completion, it had me considering some very deep, philosophical ideas around the persistence of being that would make Martin Heidegger nod with a cheeky grin. Having said this, Horripilant is not for everyone. And that's OK. Not everyone wants to click on stuff. Not everyone finds that interesting. Not everyone wants to look at weird bug-blood things and spectres of emaciated cripples who trade wood for gems. In some ways, I envy those people. 12/10

Never thought I’d see an idle game crossed with Shadowgate but I’ll be damned if it doesn’t work. You can see everything within a couple of days but this was insanely good. I’ll buy anything this developer makes going forward.

Disclaimer: I worked on the Polish translation for this game but did so for free and I bought the game with my own money. I spent many more hours playing a pre-release build while testing translations. Horripilant is a very nice twist on the incremental/clicker genre that mechanically doesn't stray too much from its roots while also aiming for something unique with its atmosphere. It's an engaging incremental with a fair bit of clicking if you'd rather wait less. The mood is very nice, in a horror way. The game also features some point-and-click style puzzles that don't get overly difficult. All in all - I've enjoyed playing it a lot and my only real criticism is that it's the kind of incremental game that I'd normally prefer playing on my phone as there is a fair bit of idling. Mechanically, that is, the atmosphere wouldn't work there. i think most fans of the genre will enjoy the game.
