It's a short but fun semi-idler. Your dudes mine resources in a mine that resets every 1-2 minutes, then you use those resources to level the dudes up. My first time playing through took ~3.5 hours, but I'm pretty good at these games. I've had fun optimizing the build over 2 more playthroughs, and I'm down to a little over a 2 hours to clear the mine. I don't regret spending $10 on it, but this doesn't have the staying power of other idlers. If you're looking for something to do over a weekend, this is good for that. If you're looking for an idler that's going to sit on your second monitor for the next few months then this isn't it.

If I could give a neutral rating for a game I would give this one that middling rating. A lot of people complain about the price, because similar 3-5 hour incremental games are around $5 when this one is double at $10. I can see that point of view but that is about the same price as a movie ticket or a happy meal so It's not really a point of contention for me. However if you have to choose between this and something cheaper like Tower Wizard, I would choose Tower Wizard every time as the value is similar. I think where Kin and Quarry loses its shine is the pacing. The endgame snowballs way too hard with a ridiculous amount of explosions and critters to the point where it's hard to see what's happening on screen while the framerate chugs to a standstill. While this is par the course for most incremental games, it feels much less satisfying when you can't even hit a button for timed skills or have any sort of control over the chaos as you would with similar games. Progression is also very confusing as you have to downgrade to previous levels to explore all upgrade paths (some resources only drop at lower levels), plus the skills and combos are not that intuitive. A game like Shelldiver does a skill tree infinitely better. Winning didn't feel earned, it just felt as if it happened. Then there is the ending which is very unsatisfying. No boss battle or anything, simply clear the last layer and have a strange little in game cutscene which fails to give an interesting twist or resolution. A boss battle or proper subversion would have given this game something to make the player feel like their time was well spent. I'm torn. I feel like the game accomplished what it set out to do, but just pales in comparison to its competition. If you want a short incremental game to play pick it up, but don't expect anything special.

I bought the game and played for 5 hours straight. The concept is good and the grind is fun. The graphic style is rly weird but i like it. If you need to shut up your brain then buy this!

100%'d achievements on Day 142. Very fun, enjoyed it a lot, though getting the last few artifacts took a lot of time. Idea: Raccoon unit! Have them periodically increase the value of surrounding tiles (they're good at finding treasures in trash, I'm not biased I swear)
