I've played both, HF1 and HF2 (obviously), and honestly enjoyed them- but each scratches a different itch. HF1 still wins when it comes to furniture and decor options. The catalog is massive, and it's easy to spend hours decorating without running out of ideas. HF2 looks amazing and the building tools are a big upgrade, especially with Sandbox Mode. But the store catalog is a letdown - it feels empty and repetitive. Right now, HF1 feels more complete, while HF2 has great potential once it gets more content and DLCs. Both are fun, but HF1 still feels like 'home' at the moment

Nice game to play in between, but I find the selection of items a bit limited. A bit more variety, like integration with the Steam Workshop, would have been a welcome addition.

Installing toilets, showers and ACs along with Radiators THAT WAS FUN AND I LIKED IT WHY DID THEY GET RID OF THAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND IT WAS A FUN PART OF THE GAMEPLAY UGH Cool game so far tho I like it

TLDR: ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT 10/10 So I have HF1 and have over 700 hours in the game (600+ here and at least 150 on switch) and I can say without a doubt that if you enjoy HF1 you'll enjoy HF2. Initially I was worried because a lot of reviews from long time fans of the first game expressed disappointment in this one and they said it wasn't as fun and the new mechanics felt weird, but I took the chance and I'm SO glad I did - there is SO much improvement to the first game, and even though this one doesn't have as much content, it's SO MUCH FUN and I cannot stress enough that even with less furniture (which is fair as this game is much newer) you still have SO many options and it's honestly still an improvement. Full disclosure I was very resistant to like it but I absolutely love it. Some things I'm surprised other reviews haven't mentioned: - EVERYTHING is customizable and has the same extensive palettes and materials to choose from - no more mismatch furniture to drive you insane! Also you can copy/paste the material/design from one piece of furniture to another with the seller tool! AND you can even use the seller tool to change what it looks like in real time without having to sell the furniture and buy a new one! It's SO convenient and so much fun. - When you place decor on a surface and move that surface, THE DECOR STAYS THERE. No more moving tables, cabinets, or bookshelves only for everything to fall to the floor! Meaning if you realize you're off by half a square and need to move your stuff over, you don't need to restart!!! - No more walls and floors sections: It's all one section and you can place the materials/surface finishes anywhere! want a carpet ceiling? Go for it! You also have a lot more precision over where you place it, it's not in long panels like the first game which threw me off, it's in adjustable squares but it's so much more convenient - you can easily do a half tile half paint wall with whichever tiles or paint you want in your bathroom without having to find a specific wallpaper for it!!! - YOU CAN PLACE SINKS AND TUBS AND ETC AND MOVE THEM AFTER!!!! You no longer need to sell and tediously reinstall - you can just place and move them like other furniture! - Did I mention the copy/paste tool? You can also duplicate furniture!!!! There's SO many new and convenient features that make designing so much fun! - there's a filter and search function and you can search by room now! Some other things that are different: - No more buyers comments complaining the entire time you're flipping, and you actually don't know who the buyers are until you sell to them - you unlock more info abt them the more you sell to them which makes flipping houses a lot more fun rather than just doing the same formula to appeal to a certain one. Personally, I feel less pressured to appeal to them and I can have full creative freedom to make the houses I want. - No more installations, there IS a section where you do basically the same thing called "assembly" where you can unlock things, and I don't personally love installation so this isn't something I do much. - On that note, with gardening, you place the plants like other furniture and can move them after placing which is VERY convenient. - the build from scratch function is so much less tedious and much more functional. The only cons I find about the game are: - placing flooring and wallpaper/tiles/etc can be a little frustrating for me personally because you can't place it through the furniture, you have to be able to put your cursor on the area. I like to decorate an area and then choose wall and floor finishes most of the time, so I've had to adjust. It's not that bad or anything and there are some loopholes, but for me it was a little frustrating especially at first. - you place books individually which is cool, but there's no object that is a bunch of books so you HAVE to place them individually. With some practice it doesn't take much time at all honestly though? that's it. As a long time fan of the first game and as someone who doesn't like change, and who was Very wary about trying out this game, I can say fully that this game is SO much fun and after getting used to it I think I like it a lot more than the first game and I can't wait for more content to come out!!! (Also I have NO idea what people who say they beat the whole story and flipped all houses in just a few days are talking about - I have played for 10-16 hrs a day every day since I got it and I've finished the story but not all the houses so rest assured, there's PLENTY of stuff to keep you busy for now, and there's even a sandbox mode where you can play jobs and flip houses that other players have designed and there's SO many)

I can only say this from personal experience, but be wary if you have ADHD and want to check out this game. My fiance and I both have AuDHD, and this was our experience. 1- Booted up game and started a new game. 2- Next thing we know it's 3am and we haven't had dinner. 3- Stopped playing and ate. 4- Booted the game back up and continued playing. 5- Now it's 8am and we haven't slept. (We have now got 11 hours of play time in one sitting). Hyperfixation on a game that really scratches a lot of itches for autistic people is a dangerous combo. This was yesterday. We are planning to play again tonight.
