REVIEW + DLC PURCHASE ADVICE: Base Game Rating: 9/10 A fun and complete game on its own, if a little brief and short on decorations. If you prefer creating and decorating venues like stores, bars, and nightclubs, you'll want to purchase more DLC versus someone who prefers to strictly renovate and style houses. I do recommend purchasing some, but not necessarily all of the DLC either way. If you are a Sims 4 refugee like me, this is an excellent alternative for people who enjoy building over life simulation with far fewer microtransactions. The modding community is healthy, and there are a couple of Sims 4 custom content creators who create mods for House Flipper as well (notably Syboubou/Syboulette). --DLC Ratings-- (I'm not buying the Scooby Doo pack, so it is excluded) Party Furniture Pack: 5/5 - Flexible for home and venue decor. I don't personally use it very much outside of the stereo speakers it provides, but someone who wants to create different nightclub and bar designs would use this heavily. Dine Out: 5/5 - I've heard this is a controversial pack... but I honestly think that's because restaurant decor is a lot more involved than it looks. The missions are much longer than most home reno missions and there's more detail. The pack doesn't lack realism, which is what matters to me. Farm: 3.5/5 - Another long-term project pack. Not as exciting to me personally, and it adds a lot of items that you will not use if you're working on any other venue. Live animals included, which I don't think was necessary since I will sell most of these farms and most farmers purchase their livestock separately... Crops are included, which I do appreciate, but the selection is not very diverse. If I had the choice, I would opt for lots of different crops and no live animals. I'm not sure I would purchase this again if I could go back in time. Garden: 4/5 - I love the work tasks this DLC provides for me. I especially like the decorative rocks and gravel... but I do feel that the plants available lack variety. I pine for plant diversity that allows me to depict different biomes like Bayou or Desert or Cape Cod-adjacent. Again, if I had to choose between greater plant diversity and live farm animals, plant diversity would win. It's also a challenge to get the plants to cooperate with each other and your furniture. I generally find it impossible to plant anything near a pond. A warning: if you chop down the naturally tall trees that spawn in backyards of your houses, there are no DLC equivalents to those trees. Every DLC tree is MUCH shorter. I personally wait until the house and garden are basically done before I choose to chop a tree down. HGTV: 5/5 - I love the missions this DLC gives you. It has voice acting and generally feels much more alive than the rest of the game. It might be my favorite DLC. You unlock decision points here where you're able to choose a creative direction to take the room in. You're able to look over the customer's vision boards to get an idea of what they're looking for. It's a great pack. Luxury: 5/5 - Huge houses and expensive furniture. Plenty of fun missions from this DLC, too. Pets: 2.5/5 - The points are for the missions, which are enjoyable but not a must if you'd like to cut costs somewhere. Also, I promise I love animals in real life, but I cannot stand the pets. They are not walkable so they use the restroom in the house. I can place potty pads down for them, but they don't always use them. Only the dog is helpful on a job assignment, and that's only half of the time. You're going to have to tell your dog to move about a dozen times, and they only leave for about 15 seconds before coming right back up to you while you're trying to place furniture. I leave my dog at home 99% of the time. The other animals are just to be fed and observed. I like that. Uncomplicated, not in my way. Now we know why interior designers and construction workers never bring their pets to work, lol. Pop Art Furniture Pack: 0/5 - I don't recommend this at all. It's too niche to be used in a regular home without sticking out. The furniture is ugly, so if you do dedicate a whole house to this, you will probably end up disliking the final product. There's a reason this art trend has never overtaken entire houses. And today's teenagers are not getting pop art bedrooms... so I'm not even sure who the target audience is. Apocalypse: 5/5 - A refreshing and exciting change of pace! Specific home buyers and lots with apocalyptic or "prepper" style preferences, although not many DLC missions from this pack. Cyberpunk: 4/5 - Goes well with the apocalyptic pack if you want a cleaner, sci-fi look in your prepper bunker. No missions or home buyers expressing interest in homes built this way, although you can buy and renovate houses set up in this style.

Hours Played At Time of Review: 31 Started flipping houses to relax... now I’m knee-deep in demolished walls, paint swatches, and wondering if I can install a toilet just a little off-center to cause emotional distress to future buyers. This game is oddly therapeutic β€” there’s something deeply satisfying about turning a roach-infested disaster into a Pinterest-worthy dream home. I told myself I’d do one quick job before bed... 6 hours and 3 full renos later, I’m still asking, β€œDo I really need a kitchen and a living room?” The customization is great, the tasks are oddly addictive, and even the power-washing feels like digital ASMR. Best part? I flipped a haunted house. Yes. Full-on ghost vibes. I walked in like, β€œNope,” but the payout was too good β€” so I saged the place (in my mind), painted over the creepiness, and sold it to some unsuspecting NPCs. Sorry, Karen. Hope you like mystery doors and flickering lights. Bottom line: House Flipper is where chaos meets creativity. 10/10 would exorcise and renovate again.

After 1888 hours of play, I would like to rate the game. I currently have all dlc additions. I also own House flipper 2. I continue to go back and play House flipper 1. I did not appreciate House flipper 2 because it changed too dramatically. The Original House flipper is simple to navigate and relaxing. My dream dlc would be let me have the ability to simply put a basement in my builds.
