PLEEAASSEEE PLEAAASSEEEE PLEEAAAASSEEEEE Expand this into an actual, full on game. This grappling mechanic is incredible, the game feels snappy, controllable, and great. The monster is mortifying, it is super quick, and is super threatening. The "vibe" is completely perfect, absolutely top notch stuff. PLEASE, For the LOVE OF GOD make this into a big, fat game with more stuff. I really hope this is sort of like a tech demo, a test for this grappling mechanic, so we can get an amazing, great game.

10/10 I literally cannot think of another game that gets grapling hook physics so right. If they add workshop compatibility and a level editor I would literally pay 10x for the game because I KNOW people could use the physics in the game to make just endless new levels. Having said that, I did also enjoy this as a short melancholic descent into grief and giving up everything for Just One Last Moment with the one you love Finally, ♥♥♥♥ that centipede it is a genuinely scary enemy, The way it just shows up from some unexpected angle and hunts you down makes me actually jump irl when it shows up it's so good

Idols of Ash is one of those indie games that is brilliant in its simplicity. You just descend into the dark, further into the unknown, and that's the premise. What initially drew me to the game was how it reminded me of a recurring nightmare I had as a child! Having to climb down into a labyrinthine cavern towards something terrifying that I couldn't see but felt drawn to. Idols of Ash captured that feeling for me. At first you take things slowly, inching your way down with the hookshot, testing angles and learning the weight of your momentum. As the mechanics and physics begin to click, you become more confident. You start taking bigger drops, bolder swings and trusting the rope like an extension of your body. This is encouraged by the presence of huge centipedes that begin to show up. They teach you to become braver and faster with your hookshot. At first they just loom, but before long they chase. Linger too long and they'll cut your rope or swallow you whole. It's a bit of soft pressure that nudges you forward, pushes you deeper and encourages risky yet satisfying gameplay. I really like the atmosphere too, its brilliant in its restraint. No flashy graphics, no soundtrack, just the sparse sound effects of your hookshot or the scuttling of many legs behind you, all echoing around the cavern, all helping add to the vibe. The Dark Souls-coded words (kiln, ash, ember, centipede) and harsh surroundings help reinforce the feeling of descending into some ancient, mysterious chamber. There are a handful of maps that ramp up nicely in difficulty. The price is more than fair for how much tension, excitement, satisfaction and 'one more go' energy I got out of it. I feel this is going to be a great game for speedrunners too. I genuinely hope the dev expands upon it, maybe even opens it up to the Workshop, because the core idea and gameplay loop make for a fun, memorable descent and I need more!

That *thing* is legitimately the most terrifying abomination I've ever encountered in reality or out of it.
