The pixel art is haunting and thick with atmosphere. The music, in particular the Erik Satie pieces fits perfectly. Overall excellent Point & Click

Slow moving and ends right when I wanted more, which I guess is a good thing? Still not a bad experience, especially if you like Lovecraft or Poe.

What a lovely little point-and-click adventure! I don't want to say too much because I feel that the best experience is to go in blind like I did, but if you're truly looking for a reason to play this game, allow me to briefly contribute. The narrative is gripping from almost the outset. I mean, I was already hooked from the title and the concept of a masked ball on a train. It's hard not to get my attention if your game takes place on a train, much less in the early twentieth century. As a huge fan of The Last Express and The Lion's Song, this game fits neatly among them. All of the vignettes work splendidly as their own short stories--I am ESPECIALLY fond of the second one--and tackle disturbing, horrific events maturely, but the added frame story grouping them all together really lands that final punch of emotional weight that moves the portrayal of events from possible sensationalism to pure tragedy. On a final note, the pixel graphics are beautifully and lovingly detailed, and the music is exceptional. I really enjoyed the mix between original score--special shoutout to the Chapel Perilous song for being one of the most beautiful game compositions I've heard in a while--and the real-life music, classical and popular, infused into the stories organically. All in all, a lovely little game that will stick with me for a while.

Just an absolutely gorgeous game. It's a narrative experience, touches existencial themes, and while its content is serious, the visual style is simply beautiful. I think the pixel-graphics is very fitting, because it leaves so much undefined grey-area to fill with your own imagination. I was moved by the game very much. Definitely recommended. The only reason this one is free may be that it is art, rather than a game.
