I don’t really do Steam reviews. Embarrassingly, it took me about five minutes to even figure out how to make one, despite having an account for over 20 years. That said, this might be one of the best point and click games I’ve played in recent years. I was a huge fan of Crawl when I was younger, though I don’t really play it much anymore, I still appreciate how creative it was. So when I saw that Powerhoof was releasing a new game, I was extremely excited. Even more so when I found out it was one of my favorite genres. I’ve played point and click games my whole life. I’ve beaten every Monkey Island game, even the Telltale ones (sadly), along with many other LucasArts style classics. With that experience in mind, I can confidently say the story, art direction, and voice acting in this game are absolutely superb. Despite the story getting a bit crazy towards the end, I was fully engaged the entire time. The pacing, storytelling, and writing were consistently gripping throughout. If you already enjoy this genre, this game is a complete no-brainer. But even if you’ve only been dabbling in point and clicks, I’d still put this comfortably within my top five. I was genuinely surprised by how much I loved this game, and I would like to commend Powerhoof for such fantastic work. I just hope you guys get the next one out a bit sooner :)
A great point-and-click with strong storytelling that kept me engaged all the way through. The pacing feels right, and the narrative unfolds in a way that makes you want to keep going. Excellent voice acting, and the plot evolves in an interesting way. The atmosphere and writing work really well together, and it stands out from a lot of other games in the genre. I’m genuinely glad I came across this one. Highly recommended for fans of point-and-click adventures.
I typically don't write reviews on Steam, but after playing this one, this'll be my third in the 10+ years of me being on the platform. The Drifter is everything I've ever wanted in a point-and-click adventure game. - Great atmosphere and music. - Interesting story and characters. - The puzzles aren't too obtuse, obnoxious or require pixel hunting. I absolutely was gripped to see where the story went next and once finished, it reminds me of why I enjoy video gaming. Great job, Powerhoof. I can't wait to see what's next.
The 97% positive reviews are not lying. This is a brilliant, tense point 'n click adventure with a great story full of surprises and twists, supported by really good voice acting and a fitting visual presentation. The puzzles were all completely logical, which is rare among adventure games. It is definitely on the easier side, but I found that not getting stuck only helps the pace of the story. I hope we see more like this from these devs. They definitely know how to make a great adventure game. Needless to say, this is absolutely worth the full asking price.
Perhaps the best point and click game I've ever played. Good mechanics, very little moon logic, and incredible narrative with exciting stakes and surprisingly interactive set pieces. It does have some very strong horror elements, so be aware 10/10, sad I can only play it blind once. Ran great on my steam deck
