Iron Marines If you are just expecting Iron Marines to be a normal tower-defence game like Kingdom Rush but in a sci-fi setting, it's not that exactly. It has the feel of Kingdom Rush but now it's more like a real-time strategy game where you have to go after the enemy. In some senses, Kingdom Rush players have already been doing this with the hero characters, but now you can build mobile units as well. Rather than just having a scattering of towers, you occupy bases which must often be captured from the enemy. You also have to harvest resources in a similar way to most RTS games. If you are a hardcore RTS fan then this game might not take itself seriously enough for you and it is only a single player campaign. For a TD fan, it forces you out of your defensive comfort zone and makes you take risks exploring the map. The predictability of TD games is perhaps one of the reasons why some people prefer TD over RTS. Not everyone likes the uneasy feeling of guessing what's going on beyond the horizon and at what moment you might get attacked, or when your own attack might get crushed by a stronger enemy that isn't anticipated. I am sure some Kingdom Rush fans will be disappointed that Iron Marines isn't a pure TD game. Then again, pure TD games don't have any mobile units, so even hero characters are a step away from proper tower defence. I would definitely recommend Iron Marines to anyone who enjoys either TD or RTS. The cartoon-like graphics work just as well for the space theme as for the fantasy theme. In fact anyone could give it a go and I would be surprised if they don't like it, even casual gamers.

Expected it to be tower defence like other Ironhide games, got positively surprised and disappointed at the same time. The issue here is that it is a moderately competent mix of tower defence and real-time strategy - yet it never excels at either of them. I would want to pass on it if you want a purely TD game - and pass on it if you want it to be an exclusively/dedicated RTS game since its terrible controls and scope fall short in that regard, too.

I became interested in this game because of the Kingdom Rush series from Ironhide studio. It turned out to be quite a fun game. Sci-Fi reminiscent of Warcraft, but the game itself is more simplified and that's not a bad thing. I had mixed feelings at the beginning, but I had quite a lot of fun with the game. I recommend it to fans of the IronHide studio, and RTS fans can of course also give it a chance. Peace

A drastic change in the typical style of Ironhide Game Studio games, while keeping the same, wonderfully unique graphic style. It's a very engaging RTS that brings the same design of Kingdom Rush series into a sci-fi setting. You can feel it was born to be played on mobile as it feels very easy to play on computer, making this game approachable for both casual players and enthusiasts thanks to it's well balanced difficulty curve. You fight across multiple aline planets, commanding marines, mechs and your alien allies, leading the front with unique heroes and using their abilities to complete different objectives, fighting either aliens or robots - even some climatic boss fights.
