Ithya: Magic Studies is a wholesome, beautifully illustrated background app. Listen to lofi and fantasy playlists while decorating, making lists, or journaling. The Story & Gameplay Unlike some apps in this genre that blend productivity with game play elements, this one has a lot of new locations to unlock as you level up. There is a light narrative to the game and each scene has animated elements such as falling rain, leaves falling or people walking around. The musical tracks are amazing, I especially love the fantasy themed one you first hear when opening up the game. The productivity portion of the game includes a journal, a task checklist divided up into “main quest” and “side quest” (clever), a timer and a pomodoro. Change the weather at any time between sunny, or rainy, day or night. There are ambient sounds, all well done, which accompany each choice like crickets chirping or pouring rain. Throughout your exploring you can find Elementals, magical beings you can add to your room as a study buddy. At the moment there are 10 to collect in all. You also earn silver coins as you level up which allow you to purchase in-game cosmetics for clothes and furniture and there are some nice choices in the way you can decorate your room. You can choose to cycle through your unlocked locations by turning on travel mode and setting the timer for how long until it switches scenes or you can settle on one location and make it static. Travel mode will also switch up the time of day and weather in each location randomly. Settings & Features Settings & features include; travel mode (allows you to change location every few minutes (30s-10 minute options), randomize the weather, playlist options, language, resolution/display options and audio controls. The Highs & Lows 🔹 The highs are it has beautiful artwork that is animated, some great tracks and some nice customizations for your room & character 🔸 The lows are the grind. Oh boy, it is a pretty slow progression. It is the kind of game you leave open in the background just to grind xp. Some tasks will award you with daily xp but not enough to feel good. If you're an achievement hunter, this one will take a while. The locations are locked behind levels so expect getting to some to take a very long time. The Visuals & Audio The first thing you're greeted to when booting up this game is a wonderful animated cutscene accompanied by a wonderful tavern/medieval sounding soundtrack. There are many playlists to choose from ranging from fantasy sounding to lofi. There is also a link for Youtube playlists if you wish to discover more. One of my favorite playlists is called Arcane Library, which is a playlist of ethereal fantasy melodies. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3478304150 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3478304061 Overall Experience If you love games in the genre like Spirit City then I believe you will enjoy this one as well. It does not have the customization to the degree of what Spirit City offers but what it does have is all those gorgeous locations you can travel to with animated elements in each one (when you can unlock them). The strengths of this one lay within the art and music but also expect heavy grind. ✨ [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/32732116-IndieGems/] Follow IndieGems for more reviews like this one. So: I'm an artist with adhd (like many are) who was on the hunt for a good to-do list. My problems with steam games like gogh, Cozy Room or Spirit City is often how clunky or heavy the interface is, or how... underwhelming the music is. I can't use apps like todoist or tick tick because they're often overblown and insist on their payment plans. It's crazy how wanting something so simple as a good unobtrusive to-do list app can be so difficult ! Anyways, this is all to say: this is far and above a favorite of all the to-do list 'productivity games' on Steam. You can make the little room more furnished or give her new outfits if you want, but the gamification is never obtrusive or too much. My favorite aspect is the optional travel mode on the timer, which rotates the scene every ten minutes. The hand drawn animation is beautiful. Blueturtle's experience with music playlists for their animations works here, because the music is genuinely good!! I love having it in the background, even while I'm watching Gordon Ramsay reruns while working. Also: 'Under the stars and moon' by Brombaer (on the endless wanderings album) is so tranquil and nice that it has looped for the past two hours and ive barely noticed. heavily recommend if you like softer ambient bgm My only recommendation or wishes for future patches (but not necessary!): - reordering the to-do lists - seperate sliders for different ambience/weather bgm (late night sounds can be a bit louder than other ambient sounds) - potential for more bg noises based on location

I feel a bit like an outsider here because everyone else in the reviews seems to know the dev from Youtube. I can report that I didn't get any such feelings while using this game/tool: it's very accessible and doesn't assume that you're familiar with its universe. Honestly, I wasn't even looking for a productivity tool. I was going to just chill with this one because the style and the light exploration elements intrigued me. This is such an awesome idea. I adore the fantasy music and setting. (Un)fortunately it turns out that gamification works really well for me. I'm finding small stuff to do just so I can get XP, level up and earn coins to decorate my room. Looks like there are about 30 locations to unlock too, and a couple more funny spirits in addition to the weird cuties I've already found. Dividing the to-do list into Main Quest and Side Quest is a really nice touch and can probably be useful. The structured journal is actually so neat that I might use it. There's even some world-building and lore. My only complaint here would be that not all of it is as cozy as the "game" claims to be, or as it otherwise is. Was it really necessary to mention violent conflict in this magical world? That's the kind of stuff I'm trying to escape here... Thankfully there doesn't seem to be much of it. I can't help thinking about the potential for updates and new features, but this is very nice already. Looking forward to becoming a great mage and exploring the land while accidentally getting a bit of stuff done. I like it so far! Seems like a great productivity/study tool. Music is relaxing and the gameification elements seem like enough to stay interested. Few missing features that would make it even better: 1. Way to limit framerate when not in focus. Animation is by hand, so there's no reason the game couldn't drop the game framerrate to that number, especially when the game isn't in focus. As of right now, it pushes my GPU to render hundreds of frames that make no visual difference. 2. Remember preferences between launches, such as custom pomodoro timings. Seems to reset to default every time. 3. More options in travel mode (the longest time period is 10 minutes). It's obviously a new game. But the music selection is good and the productivity tools are fun. I look forward to using this for my writing.

Blue Turtle's Youtube playlists got me through my PhD Thesis. So happy there is now a game-like interface I can use while working. Beautiful hand drawn landscapes coupled with relaxing tracks which are great as background music for all kinds of tasks. Immediately into the game I was very happy to see there are new playlists specially composed for the game as well as the Youtube playlists I've come to know. I am looking forward to using this during my day-to-day work.
